Julio Iglesias camina con mula...
More evidence of the (further?) damage that the Tangerine Tyrant is doing to the reputation of the USA.
As has been clear for some time that Trump's second term has seen a developing pivot away from the US in both social & economic terms with China reaping much of the benefit from such a re-orientation.
There is often speculation that Trump is a Russian asset, but on this evidence he may also be supporting China's global ambitions...

As he Danish foreign minster fails to convince representatives of the Tangerine Tyrant that they should reconsider their desire to 'conquer' Greenland, the time is approaching when the Europeans (both as NATO, and as the EU) start thinking seriously about the best way of 'incentivising' Trump to step back.... because the way Trump is going the time to try to move into a more robust resistance to the 'acquisition' of Greenland is running out.

Unexpected changes in a user interface are also a safety concern. People may have strict procedures based upon an in interface working in a certain way.
Furthermore, I think it’s an accessibility issue. I know several blind people who count on certain touch-screen buttons presenting in the same location and doing the same thing.
PLEASE, I am begging you, write your queer stories, your Weird stories, your #hopepunk & #solarpunk stories, your stories of a better world & our broken one, of healing & liberation.
PLEASE

This is fascism. The immunity part is chilling.

People are soon going to realize the cost of humans using their own mind in clicking buttons and typing is much much more cost efficient and reliable than burning cash on tokens that cost you upwards of 200$ per month per person
Interfaces are cheaper and more deterministic to operate than typing english in a textbox, at scale
This style of management is way too common in the tech industry. I call it Star trek management.
We've all seen it. Captain calls down to engineering. "How long to get the warp core back online" and engineering replies "12 hours sir". "You've got 1" comes the response from the captain.
And there's a place for that sort of thing. When you're dead in the water and the Borg might come back to attack at any minute.
But, for it to be routine is just bad management

@quixoticgeek @stefano Also known as "shoot at the monkey's feet, make the monkey dance faster." We've all been there.
(It stops being funny when they miss the floor, maim the monkey, and the monkey they depend on for some critical function spends two months in hospital.)
@quixoticgeek What’s “hilarious” about this thing of making things urgent that aren’t, is that Many of the orgs that do it point at the military.
What makes that hilarious, is that the military (at least in my dealings with them) have always been “if we burn you out on non-urgent things, then you won’t be ready when the emergency comes and people’s lives DO depend on it.”
@quixoticgeek If everything's an emergency, nothing's an emergency, and in any event I'm not a goddamn EMT.
I got down from the bird and jumped onto the mastodon. Went from #science to software development, mostly #webdev.
