@RickiTarr As a pancreatic cancer patient I can’t tell you how intriguing I find the possibility of a cure and how frustrating it is that these ideologues (idiotlogues) are viciously obstructing these programs.
The thing about several decades of neoliberal politics is that it was absolutely chock full of shit.
The difference now is that right wing governments are not even pretending to be not full of shit. They’re going “We know you know we’re full of shit. If you point this out too prominently we’ll shoot or imprison you.”
Going back to only *pretending* not to be full of shit is not an option
Corporations: we have doubled increased productivity per worker, through automation.
Workers: so we can have double the wages?
Corporations: no, we will double the profits. Our shareholders will get f and our genius owner will have twice as many billions.
Workers: but at least goods and services will be cheaper, right?
Corporations: No. Inflation will magically increase prices, nothing to do with us. Mysteriously, our profits went up even more and our genius owner is even richer!
When I was a lad, back in the days of Ford and Reagan, Republicans constantly told us that having to carry proof of citizenship was the kind of thing the Nazis and Soviets and other totalitarian regimes did.
Welp.

A prime example of stenography normalizing and opening the Overton window: This dangerous insanity is swallowed whole from the dictator as if it were just him "weighing" policy. No! It is imperialistic fascism. Greenland and Venezuela are the Rhineland and Sudetenland. Report with history and context, otherwise it is not journalism. It is complicity.
I got down from the bird and jumped onto the mastodon. Went from #science to software development, mostly #webdev.
