Trabajé más de 15 años en una empresa del 3er sector en Barcelona (la empresa se ubica en hospitalet). Curré en un centro ocupacional para personas con DI. El gerente de la entidad (ahora ya jubilado), cuándo estalló la pandemia, me negó un permiso por cuidado de un menor. Mi hija tenia entonces 2 años y las guarderías cerraron todas, evidentemente. El muy cabrón tuvo las narices de decirme q no podía ser pq otro trabajador había solicitado un permiso similar en otro centro (en otra ciudad pero de la misma entidad).
Finalmente me acogí a la reducción de jornada del 100% para quedarme en casa con mi hija.

You gather your most expensive people into a room to make your most important decisions. Then, somewhere in the second hour, the room quietly gets worse at making them. Not the people. The room.

I now travel with a portable CO2 monitor. Outdoors it reads around 400 parts per million. In a closed meeting room with a handful of people in it, I have watched it climb past 2,000. The photo here is a real reading: 2,143.

That number matters more than it looks. Researchers at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory put people in a chamber and varied only the CO2. At 1,000 ppm, performance dropped significantly on six of nine decision-making measures compared with a clean-air baseline of 600. At 2,500 ppm, seven of the nine fell substantially, some into a range they called dysfunctional. A separate study out of Harvard found cognitive scores declining as CO2 rose, with the steepest losses in exactly the domains you called the meeting for: strategy, planning, and using information under pressure.

El Museo Litográfico de #cadiz es uno de esos lugares que pasan desapercibidos cuando se visita la ciudad, pero donde se pueden aprender cosas inesperadas. Está situado junto a la Puerta de Tierra (de la que hablaré otro día), en la antigua Litografía Alemana local, que funcionó desde 1861 hasta finales del siglo XX, cuando fue reemplazada por la impresión offset. Este es uno de los pocos museos litográficos de España.

La litografía es una técnica que consiste en dibujar en piedra (pero no una cualquiera, ha de ser una caliza, fina y porosa, que habitualmente se encuentra en Solnhofen, Alemania). Con un lápiz o tinta grasa se dibuja sobre la piedra pulida y se moja la piedra con agua para que absorba la humedad. Entonces se pasa un rodillo con tinta, que se adhiere al trazado graso. A continuación, se coloca el papel sobre la piedra y se pasa por una prensa para transferir al papel. Así se transferían textos e imágenes. La piedra debía ser lo suficientemente robusta para soportar la presión de la máquina. Para reutilizarla con otro dibujo o texto, se raspaba su superficie.

El museo está formado por una colección de más de mil piedras litográficas de las canteras bávaras y posee obras de arte con dibujos y grabados antiguos. ¡Una auténtica biblioteca en piedra, con una que llega a superar los 300 kg! También hay muchas máquinas de impresión, incluyendo una manual procedente de París del siglo XIX. De las pocas que quedan en el mundo.

This is precisely the point. The current #Israeli government does not represent all Jews. It doesn't represent most Jews. Most Jews do not support #Genocide. Most Jews abhor the slaughter of children. Most Jews hate the idea of concentration camps. Most Jews do not want to see a #FinalSolution to the #Palestinian question.

The Israeli government — and the #Settler movement they encourage — are #Fascist, #Racist and #Criminal.

Most Jews are not.

I think many people misunderstand the purpose of code review. The purpose of code review is not for the reviewer to find bugs, and certainly not for them to ensure that the code is bug-free. Anyone who depends on code review to find bugs is living in a fool's paradise. As everyone should know by now, it is not in general possible to find bugs by examining the code.

The primary purpose of code review is to find code that will be _hard to maintain_. The reviewer looks at the code and tries to understand what it is doing and how. If they can't, that means it will be hard to maintain in the future, and should be fixed now, while the original author is still familiar with it.
