I made this out of Kingwood and got a really nice grain match across the cap and the body!
@freemo I know you like fountain pens (or at least calligraphy), what do you think?
I've been making pens! Here are three I turned on my mini lathe recently, the woods are (from left to right)
Bolivian Rosewood
Cocobolo
Macassar Ebony
(Buckeye burl in the works, it's gorgeous)
Each one is made with different embellishments, slightly different widths and grips, and an increasingly refined process as I make more!
The refills are by Cross, and if I can find kits for fountain pens, I'll definitely want to try my hand at making those too! These are really hefty and dense and have great balance to them, so I'm pretty happy with how they all turned out!
My dog is finally settling in, and isn't unmanageable anymore!
Our lawn is finally mowed!
Our house is mostly clean!
My courses are almost finished!
Manuscripts are coming along and they look super promising!
I am finally about to take a 3 week vacation!!!
I JUST NEED THIS SEMESTER TO END ALREADY SO I CAN FINALLY CHILL
P.S.
Speaking of, here be the pooch. Look upon her dreaming visage and despair, for she is beautiful.
The new tarantula babies came in today!
I'm worried two of them are psychos but the others behaved nicely during their transfer into their new homes.
My H Pulchripes bolted for like 30 continuous seconds, which is some **serious** stamina for a tarantula. The M Balfouri decided to do a Cirque du Soleil and jumped off the inside of the catch cup, which could have been fatal for the poor girl. Fortunately, it seems fine nearly 14 hours later, so I'm hoping all is good. My P. metallica, known to be "teleporters", was a sweetheart and super easy to get into its enclosure.
Here are some pictures, one of them is absolutely tiny.
