Funny. That's exactly what Gargamel did with GNUSocial and OStatus.
@trinsec I have always been of the opinion that radicals (I use this word as a general term to mean: “anyone whose ideas are a bit too far out,” be it politically, philosophically or anything else) serve a useful purpose. They keep us on our toes about all kinds of stuff.
Do I think the Fediverse is doomed with the arrival of Threads? No. Do I trust Facebook? Fuck, no. Doomers may not be right most of the time, but sometimes their radar is at least oriented in the right direction. We shouldn't dismiss their opinions without careful consideration.
@trinsec The thing is, I don't know if I would've even cared if people hadn't gotten so worked up about it. I paid at least some thought to the issue because of them, but am I as tired of the conversation as you are? Yes, I am.
@josemanuel Yeah, we even had a whole convo earlier with Freemo and some others about Threads/Meta/Ads. But at least that's not insane heh.
@josemanuel Man... that's rare, but you make a good point. ;)
What I dislike though is the dogpiling upon those opinions. 'Yeah you're right!' 'No, that's ridiculous' 'Oh yeah we're doomed!' 'We should defederate now!' ... I'm reading too much of the same now, heh.
