Doing a bit of an experiment. Boost if you agree!

Trans rights are human rights.

Black lives matter.

No human is illegal.

Love is love.

Her body is her choice.

Science is real.

Kindness is everything.

In 1959, police were called to a segregated library when a Black 9-year-old boy trying to check out books refused to leave, after being told the library was not for Black people.

The boy, Ronald McNair, went on to became an astronaut. The library is also now named after him

Gender bias & the seismologist who worked out the earth had an inner core: 1/8

This is Inge Lehmann (1888-1993) when she was 13. Born in Copenhagen in an intellectual family, she attended a radical co-ed school. It didn't mean she faced no headwind.

Her parents said she was too weak for the effort when a math teacher wanted to challenge the gifted student. Inge said "I could have been stronger if I hadn't been so bored at school."

In a sane world, being pro-life would mean being pro-Medicare for All, pro-gender-affirming care, pro-Green New Deal, and pro-gun safety.

cozy in a mac rom scarf. specifically this is a slice of the ROM from a Macintosh IIsi. here's how it was made. i used @th 's script github.com/osresearch/prom/blo and the mac roms on archive dot org archive.org/details/mac_rom_ar

if you have ImageMagick already installed:

$ perl hex2png.pl -y 1280 -w 32 mac_rom_archive_-_as_of_8-19-2011/36B7FB6C\ -\ Mac\ IIsi.ROM \ | convert - maciisi.png

Then a slice four columns wide was taken of the resulting image and knit into a scarf. The scarf is 1280 pixels/knit stitches long and therefore wraps natively in the columns of the scarf. if you want to make your own, you'll need a hacked consumer knitting machine or an industrial knitting machine or someone with a setup to machine knit it for you.

This year, Iโ€™ve been putting together reference letters for students. After years involved in residency and medical school selection, Iโ€™ve noticed biases in how women are talked about. Since none of us (including myself) are immune, this guide is helpful:

E-Z instructions for setting up your router:

Step 1: Remove the router and all cables from the box.

Step 2: Plug in your router and turn it on.

Step 3: Make sure the automatically synchronizing cardinal grammeters are connected to the ambifacient lunar waneshaft, and ensure that the drawn reciprocation dingle arm (to reduce sinusoidal depleneration) is in place

@freemo I am sorry youโ€™ve had to deal with this situation, but thankful for your efforts. I first heard of QOTO via the official mastodon app, so if I were first joining mastodon today I wouldnโ€™t see this wonderful instance. I hope that Eugen will come to his senses and relist QOTO soon.

Thank you very much for all that you do in helping to run this instance.

๐ŸŒž Good morning #fediverse! This is GBH News from #Boston. The temperature at Logan is 36 degrees and visibility is 10 miles.

Local filmmaker Aynsley Floyd's new documentary Turkey Town answers a question many of us have asked: Why are there so many turkeys on the streets around Boston?

Mike Pence, who is pondering a presidential run, condemned Trump's #Jan6 rhetoric in an interview with NPR.

#NASAโ€™s Orion capsule reached the #moon Monday. Test dummies sat in for astronauts.

Dealing with gender issues in STEM can be a real challenge when everybody who's in charge of fixing them is male.

I have never wanted Mastodon to succeed more than after seeing Elon liked this tweet.

If you haven't been vaccinated against the flu, please consider it.

It remains a deadly, preventable illness. As of November 12th, high to very high levels of transmission have been reported in 30 states along with general spikes in outpatient visits and hospital admissions.

Today is #TransDayofRemembrance when we honor and remember trans lives taken by violence. How horrifying that a deadly attack upon the LGBTQ+ community in Colorado Springs should occur right before this solemn day.
Hate isnโ€™t born in us. It is taught. It must end.
This starts with our political leaders, who must cease their cynical attacks against our community before another attack occurs.
Call out the hate. Remind them of its consequences. Hold them to account.
