Only by skipping investment in the future. Rotting infrastructure, high debt, weak armies, etc. are the signs.

They are going to buy from the lowest bidder then, when those fail, buy from the market leader (these may be rebranded to hide the cost to consumers).

Not necessarily. Depends on who the people getting STDs are.
In the meantime, not giving out free condoms and not savaging the economy with high front-end costs would get you a stronger economy.
