Again russian military and economy depends on linux, so the more we disrupt this the better.
And yes this measurements are and will hurt regular russians where there is no other way around that.

That's how it works in democracy, in autocracy it just requires more unified action to get the same result if the leader does not respesent you with putin being very vulnerable to mass unrest and protests atm that could stop the war.

yes, but again that is why sanctions on regular russians are important, because they are playing a major role in this war that can't be ignored even when they are not in position to do much about it.

There are regular russians that support putin and are intentionally spreading propaganda or are paid to spread it. That is different from shitposting

@zpartacoos My proposal is the restriction of all and/or majority of open-source and free software to russia for the duration of the conflict + possibly few weeks as we can't make more efficient mitigation to ensure that our software is not used to commit war crimes
Russia basically depends on free software for it's economy so the denial of it would support the effect of sanctions by the countries of the world + hopefully disrupted their coordination of troops.
In terms of suffering russia is the aggressor in this war the suffering of citizens in russia is inevitable

Russian citizens are very involved and play a major role in this conflict as:
1. produce of their work is directly linked to the funding and competence of russian military and government
2. They form the approval rating of putin that enables him to stay in power
3. are in position to spread propaganda

NATO should consider providing protective equipment e.g. respirators, skin care, etc.. to ukraine to manage the impact of possible chemical weapons.
In terms of a tactical nukes, i would think that iodine tablets would also be very important to reduce the risk of thyroid cancer and possibly zinc-based sunscreen that allegedly may help with the reflection of the gamma radiation to reduce the risk of cancer in the body.

@samuraikid They are not in position or juridistiction to demand anything.. They are journalist -> They just report on things
FWIW i am currently not opposed to providing the option for people to get chipped as in theory that might help doctors in case of an emergency to get quick information about e.g. your blood type, age and long-term conditions
but i do recognize the risk of utopia and unwarranted searches that would have to be managed legally for that to be a feasable option

I don't dispute fact checks being opinions and stress that it's important to do your own research and consultation about the information presented to you.
My effort with sharing the fact checking of France24 and Deutsche Welle (both respected and very competent news organizations) is to share the information to the general public for people to make the informed decision on the subject
also to challenge the news organizations who have insufficient process for vetting of the published information such as CNN Prima News in Czechia (https://qoto.org/web/statuses/107885207736698912)

With my comment made on https://github.com/github/feedback/discussions/2843#discussioncomment-2334831 i reclarify my previous proposal of banning russian access to free software:
The end-goal is to avoid the use of critical software that enables russian military to continue in their unjust aggression against sovereign countries such as ukraine.
The onion routing is very important for security, privacy and to avoid censorship where i don't oppose access to e.g. my fibonacci function in rust, but steps to restrict access and implement Know Your Customer ("KYC") should be taken until this conflict is over for critical repositories such as linux as that is what enables the whole coordination of the army (see astra linux).
