Hello world, again! Since introductions are a thing...

I'm Oliver - I do computer vision and robotics for agriculture, 3D reconstruction and recognition of plant structure.

Also generally computer graphics in general, functional programming.

Also rock climbing, biking and running depending on what I'm into at any point in time.

#introduction time!
I am a #social systems biologist.
I study how #evolution created #sociallife.
I study #ants and ant colonies as a model for #development.
I study the evolution and impact of socially transferred materials (e.g. milk, eggs, seminal fluid).
I lead the Lab of Social Fluids at University of Fribourg.
I am also the founder of The Catalyst, a science entertainment collective.
I am passionate about #scicomm, #genderequality, and making #academia a better place.

#introduction

I'm a 3rd-year PhD student at UCL DARK & Meta AI (FAIR) advised by @rockt.

My research focuses on building agents robust to different environments and others within them. My interests lie within the intersection of multi-agent RL & open-endedness.

I had the great fortune to work with @rockt @jnf @egrefen @minqijiang @jparkerholder @nantas @timrudner @bam4d @akbir and many others who are yet to move here :)

I’m a father to a 3-year-old future scientist (no pressure) #PhDParent

Intro time. Hi #sciencemastodon - I'm Co-Founder of the #preprint servers bioRxiv & medRxiv at Cold Spring Harbor Lab, where I also oversee CSH Perspectives and other #publishing projects. I trained as a molecular biologist. My goal is to improve science communication.

Learn more about bioRxiv at doi.org/10.1101/833400 - and on the podcast tinyurl.com/y8rbttwz

I'm also interested in promoting understanding of different career paths for academics. More at tinyurl.com/4papvn5z

On Friday 11 November, Elijah Cole will be giving a Talk on Computer Vision for Expert Tasks, at Pioneer Centre for AI!

Join us for interesting insights in Eli’s research on computer vision systems as a solution for empowering real-world problem solving.

For more information: di.ku.dk/english/events/pionee (Zoom link included for remote attendees)

We look forward to seeing you.

Here's my intro:

-> I'm a Research Scientist at DeepMind (for ~ 7 yrs)

-> I have BS and Masters in (pure) Maths, Masters in Psychology and PhD in CS

-> Our team researches systems that jointly learn language while acting and perceiving

-> We get interested when language interacts with 'general' (non-lang) intelligence

-> I lived in LatAm for a couple of yrs

-> I can run, but not as fast as I used to

-> If you know more about football than me, I'd like to meet you

-> Ditto 80s music

Belated #introduction: I am interested in open-endedness and reinforcement learning research. I'm an Associate Professor at the UCL Centre for AI where I am a PI for the UCL DARK (dark.cs.ucl.ac.uk/) lab with @egrefen (some of our students are here as well @LauraRuis @minqijiang @mika) and collaborate closely with @jnf. At DeepMind, I am leading the Open Endedness Team (follow @jparkerholder).

Looking forward to sharing this work - tomorrow (Nov 8, Tuesday, 8a EST / 3p IST) at BIU in Isreal, from Philly.

Anyone here got advice for PhD applications? Struggling with the personal statement @academicchatter @academicsunite

#introduction toot!! I am a neuroscientist at Instituto Cajal in Madrid, Spain. My lab studies how the 🧠hippocampus generates activity patterns (theta, gamma and ripple oscillations) in service for memory function. We target cell-type specific microcircuits and basic neurophysiological mechs in health & disease (e.g., epilepsy). We use #ephys #neuropixels #miniscopes #uLEDs #optogenetics #computationalneuroscience #machinelearning and love developing new #openscience tools & #neurotechnologies

We're hiring a senior editor at Scientific American to help run our opinion, commentary & analysis coverage. Thanks for applying or recommending the job to people you think would be good candidates. careers.springernature.com/job

all i need is a little text box to type thoughts into and hit send. it doesn't matter if they don't go anywhere. like the fake office and disconnected phone they set up for Trump's dad

#Introduction

I'm a computer scientist / cognitive scientist at the Santa Fe Institute, these days working on conceptual abstraction and analogy-making in AI. Fan of Bongard problems, letter-string analogies, and the Abstraction and Reasoning Corpus, among other domains.

#introduction to the #academic #science we do:
We are interested in developing and applying #computational tools and approaches to study #membrane proteins such as #ion channels and #transporters.

Hello all, new here trying to find my community. I am a #HHMI Hanna Gray Fellow in the Tesar Lab at #CWRU in #Cleveland where I study #glia in the brain inside your gut, and founder of the science education non-profit Rise Up: Northeast Ohio. Previously supported by #NYSCF.

I am passionate about equity in education, open science, mentoring the next generation of scientists, and teasing apart the molecular symphony that directs cells to shift states; enteric glia are my instrument of choice.

. I'm a theoretical neuroscientist at Columbia University. Primary focus on cerebral cortical circuits, both mature function and activity-dependent development (a form of learning). More general interest in intelligence & learning, e.g. neuro/AI interface, as well as long-term goal of understanding how cortex computes and analyzes and represents and learns. Also passionate about politics, and will post about that too -- coming from a belief in justice, freedom, everyone having a right to a secure and decent life and opportunities to develop and advance themselves, and in true democracy -- one person one voice, not one dollar one voice.

Hi everyone! #introduction

I am Mari, an #earlycareer scientist at Monash University (AU) researching how (and maternal mitochondrial inheritance can lead to the accumulation of male-harming mutations. I am also a #rstats enthusiast and a #bioinformatician.

Here mainly for the #caturday and to share my void (pictured).

Interested in: #science, #evolution, #bioinformatics, #datascience, #genomics #womenwhocode #Rladies #fruitfly

I am looking forward to meeting you all!!

I have been researching and building foundations to link text to knowledge, constructing like , and bringing together unstructured and structured knowledge to power a variety of applications.

I am now working on pushing the boundaries of as CTO for the AI unit at SAP.

I am very much hoping to keep track of the latest in and here, and will occasionally contribute my own view and works :)
