Our paper presents the results of 2 participants in all 5 phonetic contrasts, revealing their individual listening strategies. Using the open source "fastACI toolbox" [https://github.com/aosses-tue/fastACI] developed in our group, we have applied the revcorr paradigm to 5 #phoneme pairs: /b/-/d/, /b/-/p/, /d/-/g/, /d/-/t/, and /p/-/t/. This allowed us to investigate the perception of two fundamental phonetic traits: place of articulation and voicing. @psycholinguistics

This research is at the juncture between #psycholinguistics, #phonetics and #auditory perception, employing the Auditory #ReverseCorrelation (#revcorr) experimental paradigm. This approach unravels the acoustic cues employed by listeners in diverse auditory tasks, shedding light on individual perception strategies. @psycholinguistics

Exciting news! Our conference paper titled "Auditory reverse correlation applied to the study of place and voicing: four new phoneme-discrimination tasks" has been accepted for presentation at #ForumAcusticum2023 #FA2023! This is the foundation stone for a bigger study to be published next year, and also a summary of our overall scientific aim in the team.

@psycholinguistics @linguistics Tibblin et collègues (2022) ont proposé récemment une nomenclature pour clarifier les relations entre les différents types d'#EcritureInclusive (https://t.co/4TL1bQ7hNp). On distingue deux grandes stratégies: d'une part la re-féminisation qui consiste à présenter les formes masculines ET féminines ("les musiciens et les musiciennes", "les musicien.ne.s", ...) et la neutralisation qui consiste à remplacer les termes genrés par des mots épicènes ("les instrumentistes"), des noms collectifs ("l'orchestre"), ou des noms génériques ("les personnes jouant de la musique") (5/X)

A propos, comment le biais du #MasculinGénérique interagit-il avec l'effet des #stéréotypes de genre ? La littérature scientifique est partagée sur le sujet. Mais j'aime bien cette étude de Gygax et al. (2008) qui compare l'effet des stéréotypes dans une langue avec peu de genre grammatical, l'anglais, et deux langues avec un masculin générique marqué, le français et l'allemand. Résultats : en anglais ce sont les stéréotypes qui guident les représentations (p.ex. "the nurses" évoque spontanément des femmes, car c'est un métier stéréotypé féminin). En revanche en français c'est le biais du masculin qui l'emporte : "les infirmiers" évoque un groupe d'homme, alors que le groupe pourrait être composé majoritairement de femmes.
