My friend @ryan wrote about calculating real population density and it got me wondering why we don't just have one transit company in the Edmonton population centre levisan.me/articles/what-even-

@jezza I don't disagree!

I guess what I'm trying to say is… is it really bad that it can't actually create something new, assuming the users know what's going on? Ignoring the mediocre-or-worse media being produced, but for other uses.

If only "we" can pivot "AI" away from being a thing being used for slop and focus on better uses…

"AI" doesn't create, it just regurgitates and meshes. Everyone's saying it like it's a bad thing but I don't think so?

@jezza It really seems like so many people aren't willing to manage the flack!

@mike While I agree, I think that's missing the point of my question. Partially because I used the word "allowed" and in retrospect, that was the wrong word to use.

I didn't mean for it to be about permission, but about whether or not someone using language around people who'd be offended by it should get a free pass, specifically because they learned it in a time+place where it wasn't offensive

@jezza "Three more cans than a 12 pack" is WILD. What is this world coming to?

Next thing you know, people will wonder how many cans of beer are in what we call here "a two four" (24, if it wasn't obvious)

Should a person who has grown up with a phrase or term, not knowing it's bad connotations or origin, be "grandfathered in" and be allowed to say it once the history comes to light?

Blows my mind that some people in the current year still don't understand that Costco's ethos isn't about selling things for the cheapest price

I've had multiple people call me "an old soul" over the years and I've never understood what they meant by that
