Spending the day packing for the move and not talking to anyone in preparation for a whole week of talking to hundreds of amazing developers. Gotta charge those 🔋🔋

I think if there’s one thing we learned from last year’s WWDC, it’s that shade is important ☀️ but also please wear your sunscreen!!!

@curtclifton no bug to report here today - just wanted to say thanks for being so engaged here! Feedbacks have an often well deserved reputation for being a black hole, but the simple act of acknowledging them and asking for them makes a big difference!

Found some awesome stickers & pins with historic SJ signage at Recycle Books in Campbell. I have photos of so many of these! I’ll be adding the California Theater to my office pin collection.

Excited about #WWDC23 starting Monday, a bit amped from the mad rush to get ready, and then watched the Ted Lasso finale tonight. I’m a bit of an emotional wreck, but in a very good way. Three. Sleeps. Til. Dub dub.

It might seem like all your friends and colleagues are headed to Cupertino for WWDC, and you may feel some sense of FOMO.

What you may not realize is that there are thousands of us Apple developers who work in other cities and countries, and many of us will be enjoying the fruits of our labor from afar. I myself will be on my couch outside of NYC. I think it’s kind of amazing that we can enjoy the event from wherever we are :)

I am so stinking excited for WWDC next week. Can’t wait to talk to developers through all the various methods. The fact that some folks who are attending the events at Apple Park on Monday are in the Bay Area already is freaking me out because that means IT’S SO CLOSE!!

@christianselig So sorry to hear about the API bullshit. I know how hard it hits, so take care of yourself.

One of the things I grappled with was “what now?” - after so many years of doing the same thing, it's hard to step back and get a clear picture of where to head. For creative folks such as yourself, there's always something somewhere that needs your talents. It's not always easy to find that new path, but you will.

Great things to do THIS week instead of next:

- Prepare test devices **with a test Apple ID** to run the betas

- Decide which devices will stay on iOS 16/watchOS 9/etc. (keeping in mind that Watches cannot downgrade!)

- Start wearing your test watch to collect health data if applicable (thx @_Davidsmith)

- Create a new version of your app in App Store Connect, and get its first build through TestFlight approval, so you can quickly issue another build next week if beta 1 breaks your app

If you missed all my boosting this morning, sign ups for Slack Activities are now live! These activities are a great way to meet Apple engineers and other developers, ask questions, eavesdrop as others ask questions, and get inspired. developer.apple.com/wwdc23/act

Oooooo, the sign-ups for the “Activities”(Slack based virtual events) are up on the WWDC main site. These have been the real star of the show for me recently, I get a ton of value out of the Q&As and related sessions. I highly recommend getting setup for them and participating as much as you can next week.

The privilege of being allowed to “report to prison” on one’s own for multimillion-dollar swindles, as opposed to being taken there in handcuffs and an orange jumpsuit for stealing groceries, is maddening

Make sure to sign up for #WWDC23 #activities to join in all the online, text-based fun, like Meet the Presenter watch parties, Q&As, and Icebreakers!!!! You can sign up *checks notes* RIGHT NOW! developer.apple.com/wwdc23/act
