Super excited to be selected to attend #AppleEntrepreneurCamp with MusicHarbor this week! I'm learning a lot with experience and guidance from Apple experts and engineers, and fellow attendees.
Here are more details about the program if you're interested in applying: https://developer.apple.com/entrepreneur-camp/
We're hiring a (PAID.) summer intern to work on @glitchdotcom at Fastly. If you're an undergrad who wants to get some amazing experience and mentorship while working on really interesting challenges, please do take a look — and underrepresented candidates are, of course, warmly welcomed. https://www.fastly.com/about/jobs/apply/?gh_jid=4819921

Just published my first Swift article of 2023! 🎉
This one is about how the content offset (or scroll position) of a SwiftUI ScrollView can be observed without requiring any UIKit bridging. Very useful when implementing things like collapsable headers, or when performing other kinds of scroll position-dependent operations 👍

Everyone talks about “rockstar developers.” And sure you might need some of those but not many.
Usually, you’re looking for the software equivalent of the session or studio musician. The folks who can turn out amazing stuff in varying styles, but can do it all the time, on demand, consistently. They’re not going to have design philosophies, or manifestos, or lofty-sounding stuff in their bios.
They’re going to have code, and a long list of folks who say “this engineer, you want them. Really.”
Never forget, the Dutch invest €595 million annually on urban biking, resulting in €19 BILLION saved in public health care costs alone. That’s how smart govts do the math on investing in better mobility.
Let’s be clear — it wastes public money to NOT do it.

I know I'm being a baby, but I was nervous when the forecast for my area was 50 today. Need to find my winter coat...
It's been at least 10 years since I did any serious web development, and here I am trying to remember how to configure Apache and admin my own website, including reconstructing 23+ years of blog posts, because my current hosting provider is incompetent. This is definitely not the best use of my time.
The PRO act passes the Senate at 3:00am. MN will be the first state to codify reproductive rights into law. YAYYAYYYYYYYYYAYYYY! TO THE GOVERNOR!!!!
I don't really know why, but I found that I hadn't given nearly as much thought to Dynamic Type on the Watch as I do on the iPhone. I think is something about the device already being so small (and WatchKit not starting with it). But now that I'm 100% SwiftUI it has been super straightforward to adopt.
Just have to be careful to avoid touch targets ever getting smaller than 44pts as things shrink.
Well McSweeney’s never misses https://www.mcsweeneys.net/articles/macroeconomic-changes-have-made-it-impossible-for-me-to-want-to-pay-you #layoffs
“the macroeconomic environment has shifted in ways none of us could have foreseen, from an economy in which I did feel like paying you, to one in which I’d rather not”
A colleague from a different part of our corporate galaxy wrote me a short email today praising the way I ran a meeting effectively. It made my day, my week, maybe my month? I’m still a new manager, and I really needed that.
If someone around you really nails it with their work, do me a favor and tell them. Do it for multiple folks; do it repeatedly.
You probably have no idea how much it matters.
