Hmm, not sure the ALT text I wrote out came through? The image is of an Apple Watch Series with a multi-hued pink sport loop band riding a bright pink bicycle with Fitness and Heart Rate stickers on its frame through a grassy field with a pink flower and butterfly. The Apple Watch appears delighted.

One of my directs gave me a card today with artwork done by his sister-in-law, based on his description of me to her. I 🩷 it! More of her work: catsandmaidens.art

It's incredible to me that years later we are dealing with another set of life threatening quality issues in Boeing 737 MAX planes which can all be traced to the company deciding to optimize for shareholder value instead of listening to its engineers.

Decided to see a movie on the spur of the moment after hockey on Sunday night. “Whatever’s playing at 7:30” turned out to be American Fiction, and it was delightful. Worth seeing, would gladly watch again.

Doh! The CA DMV got me again with the page refresh that deletes all the account numbers that I'd painstakingly typed and confirmed... all because "special characters are not allowed in the Last Name field." FFS, PEOPLE HAVE HYPHENS IN THEIR NAMES.

There's a lot of great stuff about Slow Horses, but damn is Sophie Okonedo's Ingrid perfect.

The reward of working in infrastructure is that the better we do our job, the more useless everyone thinks we are.

I suppose this means that your people did your jobs *very* well on that project.

@dcreemer @lorihc Ok, I binge watched 4 episodes after seeing this exchange and just reached that scene in ep 5. Totally agree with the sentiment and philosophy even though I’m guilty of not always following it. (And great show btw)

In desert climates of the US a suburban lawn, with irrigation and soil aeration "maintenance" is basically a fire ant paradise. Fire ants love direct sun. They hate bushes that shade the ground, diverse clumps of plants, and fire ants can't live in the desert. They are tropical and the sprinklers for lawns complete the picture. Fire ant paradise!

But then people get so angry when they show up to live in something clearly made for them.

Watching The Diplomat for the third time, and 33:10 into Ep5 is still my favorite scene among many great ones. It’s a good reminder for me and for many of the managers I’ve managed and mentored. (Can’t post the snippet I recorded; just watch and note this scene.)

Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) is still great.

"Do you know why I pulled you over?" will be illegal in California from January 1, 2024. Now police have to tell you why they pulled you over.

The idea is to stop pre-textual traffic stops, in which an officer pulls over a driver, usually Latino or African-American, intending to find a reason to search their vehicle for contraband.

Research shows that pre-textual traffic stops are a racist practice that nets very little contraband. #acab

Happy Hanukkah to our friends who celebrate. Rachel Posner, a rabbi’s wife in Kiel, Germany, took this photograph in 1931 -- a potent reminder that fascism must be fought in every generation, even if it's wrapped in an American flag and a red hat.

Do a search on your city for 'Discount Grocery Warehouse'. There is very likely a place in your area that is open to the public that sells near-expired (in the next few months) and overstock grocery items. There is one where I live that gets in frozen food items as well as a lot of international food items. I shop there for myself primarily now and my grocery bill is $35 per week. And I'm by no means going hungry.
