« Good ideas don’t require force » yeah no it’s bullshit.
People are dumb, only a few are acting rationally, we just can’t expect to blindly follow what is best for society. Some of them just don’t understand what even is the best to do. It sucks to recognize this, but forcing people to do something can be necessary in some circumstances.
We needed to force companies to stop literally putting trash in mattress.
We needed to force train companies to adopt security standards or trains will cause damage.
We needed to force companies to own up to the chemical waste they made and stop polluting our waterways
We needed to force people to wear seatbelts, and believe me some people opposed it.
We need to force people to wear masks in public spaces
We probably need to force people to get vaccinated, unless a medical condition prevents them. #covid19

@louiscouture I kind of agree when we talk about Americans.. thing is in europe I'd say thats largely not true. They arent super smart or anything, but they are reasonable enough that it really shouldnt require force.
Even americans not too long ago were ok, but now they have gotten so damn stupid they are self destructive. Problem is if you do force them to do whats "right" the person determining what is right tends to be just as idiotic as they are.

@freemo this is an interesting point ngl. I think Europeans, especially in Nordic countries are more prone to respect health measures because they are better educated than in America

@freemo well, for the mask part, I think it’s reasonable to not let someone enter your shop if you don’t wear a mask. Mask are effective to protect you and others and I see it as completely normal to want a safe shopping environnement for everyone involved, that is, of course, unless someone has a condition preventing them from wearing masks, but this is a rare occurrence.
Ive heard something about double masking, in that you should use a disposable mask and a reusable one on top, but from what I hear about local authorities, it’s that it’s best to use a disposable mask. Triple masking is a big no no as this can actually cause respiratory problems.
