I hope whoever wrote the script for the Highlander 2 movie is ashamed of himself.

@lucifargundam @freemo I cannot in my heart understand how anyone could have been involved in Highlander and also have been a source for Highlander II. It challenges my perception of reality.

@clacke

This right here is how I know the devil exists. Only he could turn a heart so pure into the black coal necessary to produce Highland II

@lucifargundam

@freemo @clacke
Peter Davis: "We were initially reluctant to move forward"

Christopher Lambert: "Between the producers, the director and myself- we didn't want to do a sequel"
...."so it was important that we had a good story first"

William Panzer: "so we conducted a fairly elaborate story that took place in the future that dealt with an issue we felt was important, which was the depletion of the o-zone layer"

William Panzer: "there were things we had to change"..."in order to integrate highlander 2 into the highlander legend, they have now come from earth in the past and the technology that existed in the past allowed them to go forward in time on earth. So the dialogue for th judges were completely rewritten as well as a section of the scene in the judges chambers where general Katana and the judges can see into the future on a holograph tv screen that was created for this version of the film"

It may be because Panzer did most of the talking, but so far he seems to be the most interested in the sequel. Further evidence required to validate hypothesis.

@lucifargundam

Keep in mind your reading about the renegade edition. In other words, they did highlander 2, completely fucked it up, then try to fix it years later by editing out and correcting the horrible story line and while they patched a few holes it was still horrible and made no sense.

For example in the original highlander 2 they were aliens from another planet. So the scene on the planet where they all attack katan with advanced weapons that look basically like modern day military guns makes so sense when the dubbed over it and made it from the past instead.. they didnt have guns in the past!

> ozone layer
oh man. it's been a long time since i heard that version of $globaldisaster

@icedquinn

To be fair we absolutely were on the verge of a global disaster.. Just goes to show you science was right, we banned CFCs globally and almost completely addressed the problem and the hole within a few years fixed itself.

@clacke @lucifargundam

@freemo there is literally always $globaldisaster and we are always at war with oceania. :cirno_shrug: @clacke @lucifargundam

@icedquinn

Part of that is exageration and fear mongering for sure.. the whole terrorist nonsense was a lot of that.

But some of it is because humans are destructive and stupid and when we are forced (or choose to) change our ways it fixes the problem.

The key is understanding which is which.
