Do people not realize the huge amount of natural resources it would take for just one person to go on this "vacation".. Considering global warming and all the concerns around fossil fuel consumption in general maybe not introducing a form of vacation that requires a rocket full of fuel is the way to go...
@freemo
twenty years later:::
Tesla is now introducing the world's first all-electric rocket that will send vacationers to the moon!
@freemo
well this is relatively close(but not the save)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ion_thruster
perhaps such a device would create a vacuum around it in a similar way a tornado spins in-place? and then it propells itself upwards into space using the vacuum followed by a variant of an ion thruster?
@freemo my apologies, thats what I meant by "followed by"... as in after getting out of orbit.
@lucifargundam ahh yes, but since we are talking about a space hotel orbiting earth that is a moot point. Once your in orbit thats the easy part if your not in a rush :)

@lucifargundam Ion thrusters would be useless in this situation. Ion thrusters are useful once your in space, they are useless when it comes to getting off the planet.
