It currently does work. The article says that yahoo needed a representative in china. However, fedi doesn't have any- anywhere. Fedi is also not a company.

There are very few VPNs that work through their firewall. Fedi can work- it's just not easy. I don't think it could replace Yahoo in any capacity either way, however.
