@lucifargundam I had to an extensive background check with my last employer, as they are a gov't contractor, and it took 9 weeks. Never seen anything like it. They also wanted tax returns (this was 2020) dating back to 2015, as well as every paystub in that 5 years. Never seen anything like it.

@obi never heard of the tax thing. The rest, however- seems standard for high-profile govt job.

Usually from what I hear, the only tax checks are done on people who are likely to illegally acquire money on the job.

I'm in no such position. The last guy who tried doesn't exist anymore.

@lucifargundam They other guys that worked there before I did were also surprised, and said theirs was much easier. We had just been acquired by a large German company though, so maybe that was just one of their policies.

Afaik typical German law requires a lot of transparency. So that checks out.
