@lupyuen it's okay. But i doubt that it's not going to get abused in the future.

@ravenclaw Yeah but an entire generation of kids will grow up with the assumption that it's OK to carry a gadget and be tracked...

On the other hand, we will have an awesome app for parents to track the whereabouts of their kids 😉

@lupyuen @ravenclaw " First, it must take on human autonomy. It must—it must cast human autonomy as its enemy, because human autonomy means friction. It’s harder to take our experience, it’s harder to influence our behavior for the very best sources of predictive behavioral data—it’s harder to do that if we know what’s going on and we find ways to resist. So, it is against autonomy. It is against individual sovereignty and our decision rights over our own experience. That eats away at democracy from below, because we cannot have flourishing democratic societies without individuals who understand themselves as a moral center of critical thinking and autonomous action. That’s number one. "

I'm sorry if i sound somewgat rude
But doesn't "hauk" app already come up with this idea ? "Self host location sharing"
Maybe you could contribute to their project or set up an family friendly instance.
here's their repo.

The only thing that makes people go away from open source and self hosting is the hassle.
Since most of them have this set of mind :
"why do i need to set up my instance or running this set of software if i could just do the same task with a one click on this app (a prioprietary program)"
At least that's what i thought before opening myself to learn more about foss.
