UK surgeon who described Gaza ‘massacre’ denied entry to France. Ghassan Abu-Sitta, who was due to speak in French senate, is told Germany has enforced Schengen-wide entry ban.

During the months of October and November 2023 at the beginning of Israel’s war on Gaza [...] he described witnessing a “massacre unfold” in Gaza and the use of white phosphorus munitions, which Israel has denied. He has also provided evidence to Scotland Yard.

This is unprecedented. Brown University strikes a deal with its students to end their peaceful protest & encampment, in exchange for a formal divestment vote from Israeli interests. And no student will be punished for protesting. This is democracy at work.

@0xamit Disproportionate use of force seems to be perceived as the norm in some circles. This is where societies fail.

@lgsp I need to have local account to create a community. Once the community is created, I guess people from other instances can be added as moderators.

Lemmy is the coolest thing on the fediverse. For me that's despite all the memes and the people that are there just to chat. I'm not alone in my thoughts - whereas the rest of the fediverse is shrinking, lemmy is growing. And it will stay this way at least until mastodon grows enough to become the community of choice of at least a 100 times more people. Anyway, the thing about Lemmy that really annoys me is that I have to create a new account just to create a community at the instance where it fits better.

Glad somebody wrote about this because it’s an objectively hilarious UX case study

Against Europe’s largest gas project and a major threat to the fragile Black Sea ecosystem

Whereas this particular event has passed, there is still hope and the campaign continues.

An investigation found 36 Facebook groups posing as separate grassroots movements opposing the expansion of London's ultra-low emission zone schemes to reduce air pollution. They were set up by the Conservatives as part of a coordinated political campaign.

@fedifaschifo @mapto@feddit.it va bene, parliamo di associazioni e fondazioni. Cambia tanto?

@coba @EU_Commission it's a direct response to an EDPS public announcement from earlier today, which indicated that the project with official EU Fediverse servers would end: edps.europa.eu/press-publicati

It seems to indicate that the commission will take over. Which makes sense - the project ends with a huge success, so the EU institutions should naturally want to continue the good development.

@badnetmask @major @shollyethan forgive me for being the pain in the neck, but how is this different from, e.g. the docker hub? I mean, it's different, but that one is huge and anything there is self-hostable
