UK surgeon who described Gaza ‘massacre’ denied entry to France. Ghassan Abu-Sitta, who was due to speak in French senate, is told Germany has enforced Schengen-wide entry ban.
During the months of October and November 2023 at the beginning of Israel’s war on Gaza [...] he described witnessing a “massacre unfold” in Gaza and the use of white phosphorus munitions, which Israel has denied. He has also provided evidence to Scotland Yard.

This is unprecedented. Brown University strikes a deal with its students to end their peaceful protest & encampment, in exchange for a formal divestment vote from Israeli interests. And no student will be punished for protesting. This is democracy at work.

@0xamit Disproportionate use of force seems to be perceived as the norm in some circles. This is where societies fail.

Lemmy is the coolest thing on the fediverse. For me that's despite all the memes and the people that are there just to chat. I'm not alone in my thoughts - whereas the rest of the fediverse is shrinking, lemmy is growing. And it will stay this way at least until mastodon grows enough to become the community of choice of at least a 100 times more people. Anyway, the thing about Lemmy that really annoys me is that I have to create a new account just to create a community at the instance where it fits better.

@fedifaschifo @mapto@feddit.it alle entità senza scopo di lucro in Italia. Leggi di questo genere esistono in qualsiasi paese del mondo, ma in generale vengono considerati meno lucrativi. Quindi meno interessanti per la criminalità organizzata a noi (a me come bulgaro e a te come - suppongo - italiano) ben conosciuta in diverse forme. Gli Stati uniti sono un paese che genera tante donazioni. Quindi ci sta che qualcuno vorrebbe fare comodo ai donatori (che spesso e lo scopo principale di una registrazione del genere)

@coba @EU_Commission it's a direct response to an EDPS public announcement from earlier today, which indicated that the project with official EU Fediverse servers would end: https://www.edps.europa.eu/press-publications/press-news/press-releases/2024/edps-decentralised-social-media-pilot-end-successful-story_en
It seems to indicate that the commission will take over. Which makes sense - the project ends with a huge success, so the EU institutions should naturally want to continue the good development.
