If following Lemmy communities is a possibility from flipboard, then please take a look at fediverser.network/communities. This is part of my fediverser.io project which aims to make migration from Reddit to the Fediverse more seamless. It lets people automatically discover all the Lemmy communities that correspond to their favorite subreddits.

1/21 #WhiteSupremacy is not passive; it is proactive, violent, and pathologically relentless.

I don't know who created the attached image but, in researching them, I discovered others that were not represented.

As we look more closely at a few specific events, we will keenly recognize some common threads, but I'd like to start with one that is not depicted in the image, but is really the best place to start - the #ConfederateStatesofAmerica and the American #CivilWar!

I will now stop using laundry pods.
Even while acknowledging that their contribution to microplastics is small.

The major contributors to microplastics in the oceans:

Synthetic textiles
(They make me sweat unpleasantly, so I stay away from those, too),

Car tires
(why I bike: skinny tires, a lot less wear!)

City dust
(Guessing that includes the two above, plus house paint and such).

@anubis2814, I'm not very active there anymore (diasp.org/u/mapto).

How would that work? I suppose I need to have an account on a Friendica instance? From your experience, would you recommend an app or the web interface? I've been keen to explore the fediverse beyond masto and I've been enjoying lemmy a lot.

@kristinHenry not sure if you're actually looking for answers, but I can give you mine: I don't have a Meta account. My Facebook got stolen before I arrived here.

Context: Previously I was on Diaspora and had no reason to open ActivityPub-compatible. After the migration wave from Twitter, I joined and with this lost any half-interest to reopen on Meta.

@GrapheneOS "The current consensus seems to be that the latest version is not broken in known ways that are severe or relevant enough to affect end users, assuming the implementation is correct. That is about as safe as leaving exposed wires around your house because they are either not live or placed high enough that no one should touch them."

@huitema @mekkaokereke sounds quite reasonable to me. I wonder if anyone has counter arguments

@freemo my argument has its flip side. No one doing something for money can dedicate the resources necessary to compete with someone who does it with passion. Ultimately, monopolies are grown by someone who is both passionate about the product and pedantic about money

@freemo mainstream might be one of the important ways to do it. As you say, a broad coverage of the long tail might be another. Someone who cares about revenue would be much more attentive to these things than someone who is passionate about any literary genre.

So relieved and delighted to have this stuff out into the world where it can help new (and maybe also some experienced) fedi admins and mods think through their work. And maybe help convey to others at least some of what makes the fediverse such a structurally interesting place.

I'm even more optimistic about the fediverse than I was when we jumped into this—and sobered, too, by how much work there is to be done. But I think it's doable.

@freemo I never said they sell mainstream books. I said they know better how to make money because they care more about money in comparison to a bookstore with management that cares about books and readership

@freemo is Amazon with bigger turnover or Ocult Bookstore?

@freemo someone focused on money would have much more "valuable" (in market terms) bookstore. Someone into books would have something that doesn't necessarily sell well, but relates to others passionate about reading, e.g. niche literature

@freemo of counting money is your goal in life, you'll probably end up doing it much more often and better than someone else who likes being with people or reading books :)

UK – Three in 10 users of X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, say they are considering leaving the site, according to research from Savanta.

Savanta found that Musk was also deemed personally unpopular with the UK public ...

Musk is currently less popular with the UK public than all Conservative leadership candidates except Priti Patel (-30 ).

Oh my word. FUCK YOU DISNEY

'The lawsuit claims that Dr. Kanokporn Tangsuan suffered a fatal allergic reaction after eating at a Disney Springs restaurant despite repeatedly informing the waiter of her severe allergy.

Disney is calling for the lawsuit to be dismissed because her husband signed up for a one-month trial of the Disney+ streaming service years prior.

The company says signing up for the trial requires users to arbitrate all disputes with the company.'
