@Osvaldo_Chara I've become fascinated by wound healing and tissue regeneration ever since my daughter (Heather Talbott @ Stanford) started working in that area. Your research sounds very promising -- especially since, as a puzzle addict and word lover, I'm a lifelong fan of the axolotl!

Having recently joined #QOTO and #Mastodon in the #GreatTwitterExodus of 2022, I thought I'd make a brief introduction. I'm a semi-retired AI (artificial intelligence) / ML (machine learning) / CS Ed (computer science education) researcher and educator. I started my career at #SRIInternational in California as a research scientist and was then on the faculty at #UMBC for 17 years before moving to #SimmonsUniversity as a dean. I left that position last spring and I'm not sure what I'll do next professionally, but for now have been enjoying my freedom, spending a lot of time with my new grandchild, traveling a bit, doing lots of crossword (and jig- and other) puzzles, reading a great deal, and fervently hoping that American democracy doesn't wash itself down the drain. I'll miss twitter (where I had spent a fair amount of effort to amass 1680 followers) but I won't miss the toxicity and I definitely will not miss Elon Musk. (I'm still waiting for him to permanently suspend me, having changed my name to Elon Musk on the platform... the guy talks big but doesn't follow through. 😉 )

Toot may be the most unfortunate neologism for "post" that I can imagine. Hey @Mastodon how about an option to relabel the button so we don't have to have that particular image in our mind each time we post? 😉

@marathon0 @Juan_Kinda_Guy I disagree wholeheartedly. Parody and satire are intentionally false but not intending to convince people of the truth of the falsehood. "Fake" or disinformation is something else entirely. And opinions with which we disagree vehemently, or mistaken beliefs, are yet another category. Of course there are gray areas and overlaps between these categories -- which is why it isn't trivial to eliminate "fake news" and disinformation, and why we need *human beings* to make judgements about these categories, and yet another reason why Elon Musk is a disaster for twitter, having fired all the aforementioned human beings.

@kathygriffin I emulated you, changed my name to Elon Musk, and even told him "Bring it on" and "Up yours," but he *still* hasn't permanently suspended my account like he promised to do. I am so disappointed.

I'm about to take the plunge and commit twittercide by changing my name to Elon Musk. If I'm going to go out, I'm going to go out with a bang. Hopefully Mastodon will be a good new home, but if not, I'm sure something else will come along. Looking forward to building a new community here & wherever else my path takes me.
