🤓 #nerdstuff #rpn #calculator alert:
Who else here uses the old reverse polish notation (#rpn) calculators of HP? One of the best is the HP42S - quite expensive on the second hand market. A free alternative is the Free42 app of Thomas Okken: https://thomasokken.com/free42/
SwissMicros has built an actual calculator, DM42, based on the Free42 software https://www.swissmicros.com/product/dm42
Edward Shore has a nice calculator blog, on which he posted a fibonacci program of mine for the Free42 / DM42 , in two versions. https://edspi31415.blogspot.com/2022/09/dm42-recursive-fibonacci-by-marko.html

@markodraisma beejn using RPN ever since school :)
@markodraisma
The hp42s was my calculator.🖤 ... but it's broken💔. I found an emulation of the hp48s on android 😊
@Clailou You should also try the free42 android app. It's the hp42s but even better.
@markodraisma I installed NewRPL, an open-source RPL/RPN firmware on an HP 50g and some HP 39gs calculators. They run very quickly since it's compiled native ARM code, and not a Saturn CPU emulator running on the ARM that's executing some variation of the HP 48 series code. https://newrpl.wiki.hpgcc3.org/doku.php if you've not seen it.
@lmamakos That's cool! I don't have any of the target calculators, butwhen I do, this looks like a fine option.
@markodraisma really? 🤩
