@evangreer Which "global human right" involves access to Twitter?
Let it burn. It's just a service offered by a company. There are other companies and other services people can use.

If you're worried that this could be mistaken for nuclear launches, don't. A lot of the munitions launched so far were already dual-capable. And in practice, unless there's a massive launch towards EU capitals or the United States itself, none of the nuclear powers will be sitting at the football wondering whether to launch-on-warning. They'll always wait for it to land and then decide later. So at least that's off the table.
I’ve had a lot of people ask me recently why not stay on Twitter and fight.
The reason is because Musk controls the algorithm. He could ban you tomorrow, and he could also just deprioritize every one of your tweets so no one sees them.
You can’t fight and win when the opponent has complete control over the field of conflict.

‘Kanye West announces 2024 presidential bid - BBC News
‘West said his request for a running mate left the former president, who recently launched his own re-election campaign, "most perturbed".
In a video titled Mar-A-Lago Debrief, West claimed: "Trump started basically screaming at me at the table, telling me I'm going to lose. Has that ever worked for anyone in history?"’
Since Mastodon saw its initial popularity circa 2017, I've noticed that most users and those reporting on it either don't think about the Fediverse as anything more than Mastodon, or treat its history as beginning with Eugen Rochko and the beginning of Mastodon. In fact, Mastodon is the latest in a long line of federated social networks, going at least back to Identi.ca, and though I wasn't around for all of it,I find this history pretty interesting. (Thread; boosts welcome!)

Having tracked Fuentes for years, let me note this as a reporter: he is well-known inside the GOP. People can pretend otherwise but professionals who work in the party are highly aware of how his white supremacy and anti-Semitism influences some voters, esp on fringe platforms.

Jesus Fuckbuttering Christ Mastodon users.
The amount of dipshit reply guys to someone saying they're experiencing harassment/abuse shouldn't be:
"You should find a better instance"
"You can mute, block and fediblock them"
"You're being difficult"
"You should read all the block lists for other instances and follow those"
"You should use different hashtags"
"I haven't experienced any harassment or problems and I've been here for years"
"You should create filters and a central list so everyone can find it"
"Don't complain unless you're willing to solve the problem"
Those are a few of the replies I've received, in addition to being told:
"You should be shot in the uterus"
"You should be more careful"
"You should unalive yourself"
"You should be killed"
"You're a whore"
There's a few more vile things to add to that list, but you get the idea.
My point is this, content moderation and centralized reporting is something that should be considered.
I understand it won't stop all the harassment, but it might give a better way of tracking the problems.
I am not/not volunteering to spearhead it because I already handle enough of this shit in my personal and business life.
I don't have the spoons, or fucks left.

On November 25, at the urging of a far-right troll, Elon Musk banned the @CrimethInc Twitter account.
Musk’s goal in acquiring Twitter had nothing to do with “free speech”—it was a partisan move to silence opposition, paving the way for fascist violence. https://crimethinc.com/2022/11/25/elon-musk-bans-crimethinc-from-twitter-on-request-from-far-right-troll

At the turn of the (20th) century newspapers were the social media platforms of the day.
At the turn of the 21st century newspapers ceded that role, and their futures, to big-tech and the portals and silo-social networks.
The move to the fediverse gives modern news orgs a once in a generation opportunity to take that back.
Follow the lead of @TexasObserver and other news orgs that are launching their own instances for their staff/reporters and their audiences.
