When science demonstrates you are wrong, the obvious thing to do is deny it… well not to me, but it seems that is the preferred action at least here in the USA.

@garyackerman 🤣 This BR quote seems appropriate: “If a man is offered a fact which goes against his instincts, he will scrutinize it closely, and unless the evidence is overwhelming, he will refuse to believe it.
If, on the other hand, he is offered something which affords a reason for acting in accordance with his instincts, he will accept it even on the slenderest evidence. The origin of myths is explained in this way.”

BERTRAND RUSSELL, Proposed Roads to Freedom

@mguhlin @garyackerman I think you'd appreciate The Comforts of Unreason by Rupert Crawshay-Williams, who also wrote a biography of Russell.

@garyackerman reading this quote, I am reminded of sharing Twitterpocalypse and Mastodon as alternative to some…they didn’t see the value and blew it off. Here we are a few weeks later…and now they are asking, “Maybe we should switch?” Alas, I have done the same in different situations…makes me laugh at humanity. 🤣
