@mjambon I like this. I do think the end is inflammatory but not going to try rob you of expressing that where I might encourage a few pegs lower if you want the preceding part to stand out than a fuck you emotional thing... because *exactly* for those less able (almost disabled) the emotional or more personal is what people might take up and naturally as humans can use as fire rather than seeing understanding... so depending on which way you intended (sarcasm of posting or genuineness or indeed mix) you could encourage people by not fucking of or indeed fucking you (as a natural reaction to being told to fuck off and simply coming back for more)... but does work somewhat to warn people so this might be fine tuning more than anything major... but if you are more friendly then you could show it :D Good stuff overall from looking on your side... :thumbsup_hmn_g1:
@freeschool thanks for the feedback. It seems to be working as intended. People who can't stand my approximate language end up not following me and I don't have to deal with them later. The other way would be that I have to over-explain everything I say. I'm not interested in that because it wastes time for me and for my intended audience.
@freeschool I'm barely posting anything here. On Twitter, I used to post technical info mostly about the #OCaml language. That was until about 2016. It was an effective way to get followers but not to have interesting conversations about anything. I'm more true to myself now. I don't want to post one-way messages in the style of influencers. Every message is a message in a bottle in the sense that I desperately want reactions but I'm not getting them.
@freeschool I have many philosophical things to say, some of which requiring fewer prerequisites than others. I'm looking into compiling them into writings before I die. The main topics revolve around the nature of world models and minds. I'll get back to you if I find something that fits the one-minute audio format. What's the target audience? (any technical knowledge I can assume?)
How to record audio / How to speak about your thoughts or presentaton...
@mjambon I missed the reply somehow but circling back on my rounds I've caught your message :)
So about recording audio...
First tip is:
█ Asking me only gets you long answers :)
█ Almost punishment reading this already... so good incentive and first suggestion is to "just grab your mic now, switch it on, record" and see if it play back!
Instead of reading just to practice that first (sometimes it doesn't even record at all first time or even 2nd time!)
█ Start testing your own thoughts with fake-it-until-you-make-it style bits because that gets you answers sooner and grows better what you actually want to say after initial mic test (it's NOT always perfect first time either so part of the process is to keep mic on while thinking and you what you have to say will come out or read off notes)
.
█ ! █ Seriously don't read any more - get recording and then summarise :)
█ Target audience is Fediverse.
- A highly diverse set of people. Technical is ok. Some crazy good people here.
█ I will catch the vibe also and I know who to drop it to on the Fediverse so main thing is deep down it's from you and you 'got that feeling' for it to 'speak for it'.
█ Just in random order speaking like kids can help.
█ Your mind will say nah / yeh as you go. Give mind some material and tetris happens itself ╣ ══ ▀
█ Topics you mentioned are good. Do it your way. Why do you care anyway?
█ Even a long audio can help get the first wave of speech out and pretend it's live, then listen back and say to yourself where to make summary from longer points... THEN restart completely and re-record, reading out, while freestyling between parts like bridges of main points. Short or long ok for first version. I / we can edit later or do it yourself.
-------------------------------
Maybe best creative point from all...
-------------------------------
█ You actually create the audience (without sounding like an advert) as you make your audio (!) and to some extent it's your love that is pulling people in since plenty of people with many interests are there and have feelings about everything, so feel rest assured "if I love it then anything I say will be a magnet". This relaxes mind into thinking "right then. what do I love about this?" and reels things off for you to catch...
█ A lot of technical people out here yes. No worries about them. It's all you long or short... I can handle it. ![]()
How to record audio / How to speak about your thoughts or presentaton...
@freeschool excellent, thank you! I may not follow through (based on past experience) or it may take me months to do something but we'll see.
How to record audio / How to speak about your thoughts or presentaton...
@mjambon Sure, do it for yourself and then see how it goes!... Just do 1 small recording and keep it for later for fun!
@mjambon Interesting and more the kind of expression of feelings I think useful to hear.
Then possibility towards practicalising (or better word) those feelings, so it's not only about wrong or right between people but helping / holding each other towards doing eventually or even immediately (doing as sort of middle / in-between / bridge to the wrong right thing...
Naturally can be challenging to do something but I think it's the best way of learning, testing and answering ourself / ourselves,
merging between what we all want as "I want" (peer to peer) and "you / they want" (many to many).
To avoiding it being too deep in real example the "I want..." here in general for me is many things I'll list off just to get general idea:
- "For people to practise expression
- "to get ourselves better at practising as a direct result or indirect result of seeing / hearing others more"
- "more compassionate or non-destructive space to practice"
- "not too theoretical either, challenge yourself to testing the suggestions people make"
- etc
Anyway I see us as one humanity or one species (hope I'm right!) while having and holding different cards I think we can come together and have fun.
--------------------------------------------
OK on to my suggestion... even in theory just to see what you think:
--------------------------------------------
Think about what you would record in a 1min audio (or 2mins)... an audio to share with Fediverse-only people to really reach their soul or get practical interest.
I send out sound bites from people on a Fediverse-only podcast, both as soft advertising for themselves and enjoyment to others to get us all interested in each other mutually on the Fediverse in a super quick 1min thing. So what would you say or want to ask from others and suggest how they could do that with you...
Say something about what you / we like or love... and I just make a quick intro to match that and simply link to your profile and send out...
Here are previous podcast examples (~2mins each, 1min standard intro):

Let me know what you think overall from the perspective of what you think for yourself could be possible and happy to take feedback for the 3 examples above.
Thanks :)
