I am looking for a lightweight Linux distro which I would install on my potato alongside Windows. It should be low on resources and also not totally command line.
please help Fedi
@Zergling_man
Yeah I have used puppy from USB though now I am kinda more liking BunsenLabs
@socialnoob
looks cool,
will try it on USB
@mur2501 How low on resources are we talking? I run Mint MATE on an old desktop with a Pentium 4. I don't know how well it'd work on a potato, but if it already runs Windows I have a hard time seeing how you'd have trouble.
@khird
intel i3 and 4GB ram
@mur2501 That's plenty of power then! I actually don't know of any distro that *wouldn't* work on those specs. Maybe not with wobbly windows and other wasteful applications of processing power, but for general use just get whatever you like.
@khird
Ahh yes for linux it is quite good I can run most though I would still like a lightweight non-sugar OS. Apart from that I will only have 25 GB to allocate when I install it alongside windows so that's why don't want a big bulky distro.
@mur2501 Puppy. IIRC my preferred puppy is tahrpup, for Arch-esque or XFCE-related reasons, but any puppy with a DE is great and small.
Downside: "Install" is a bit liberally defined. I haven't managed to get it running off a harddisk yet. I should just dd it on at some point.
