Well Washington DC contributes 0.7% of the GDP of the whole USA. So yeah it looks small percentage wise but with the total GDP of your country at almost 21 trillion your capital gives out 146 billion (that was the net worth of Bill Gates at the time of divorcing Melinda Gates)

@mur2501 Interesting. I wonder which cities or states, if any, contribute negative GDP

@mur2501 If that were true then germany couldnt have a higher GDP by eliminating berlin.

@freemo
That's what I am trying to understand there, though it's GDP per capita in that graph I will have take a look at how it is actually calculated. Though from what I I assume when they talk about removing a city they remove the GDP as well as it's population from the total which means that Berlins high population was dragging down the overall GDP per capita while not giving it back in it's GDP

@freemo
The equation used there would be:
(Total GDP - City's GDP) / (Total population - City's population)

After playing with numbers from the US Census Bureau it seems that kicking Mississippi out of the USA will give your country a boost of 0.99% in GDP per capita
