An introductory note: I'm the executive director of The Clergy Letter Project (www.theclergyletterproject.org), a grassroots organization promoting the compatibility of religion and science (at least most religion). We sponsor open letters from religious leaders urging the teaching of evolution. We run an annual Evolution Weekend (renamed Religion and Science Weekend in 2023) in which congregations promote science.
