Stupid question: I'm seeing conflicting static / intereference regarding editing posts/toots. Is editing possible?

But my understanding is that the latest version of Mastodon has actual editing of posts (with the history being visible so situations like what @radehi describes can be caught). But #Qoto doesn't run that version yet, nor do most other Mastodon servers.
That's probably why you're seeing conflicting info: a few instances do have an actual Edit, but most of the #Mastoverse is still on "delete and redraft", and will be for some time.

@zkline That's what I'm understanding from my responses. I think it's freaking awesome if yo're on a small intsance. I got random interaction, the likes I'd never get with Twitter.
@ner You can "delete and redraft", which is convenient like editing, but doesn't move the replies and likes to the new version. So you can't say "I love pineapples, reply 'me too' if you love them too", and after 52 people reply saying "Me too!" edit the toot to say "I think Mayor Linseed of Gotham City should be killed."
