Will client-side scanning impact UK’s international reputation?

Ciaran Martin: it’s an unhappy situation. UK could take reputational hit for introducing it in law but then never actually use it. The language of the debate is toxic. We should stop shouting at each other and get around a table.

ORG's Policy Manager, Dr Monica Horten agrees, there needs to be a grown up debate about client-side scanning and other proactive measures in the #OnlineSafetyBill.

It's a huge UX fail that, when you forget to put on your seatbelt, your car just plays a generic chime instead of an audio clip of Topol shouting, "For God's sake, strap yourselves down!"

Kneel before the true god.

Good morning, Britain. Might I draw your attention to an awfully dreadful instrument of repression which is making it's way through Westminister? ...

TVアニメ「がっこうぐらし!」

アニメ is "anime" in katakana.

"がっこうぐらし!" is Gakkou Gurashi! / School Live!.

If you're wondering why Twitter moderation has gotten so bad / censorious, it might have to do with Elon Suck up Ella Irwin practically admitting they're not really bothering with impact assessments any more to figure out if a moderation change has a detrimental impact.

Higurashi was such a fun anime / Visual Novel.

Ryukishi never made as good a horror after that, although Umineko has it's charm.

The other horror titles in anime can't really compare, in my opinion.

Maybe, someone should create a film based on conspiracy theories with an element of horror and murder.

Throw in lots of paranoia and "they're out to get us" and have them interpret every little "sign" as evidence of a nefarious plan.

In particular, I would pitch them as the real baddies, but I don't think you have to reveal that right away :)

Trek will always be the more fun one.

Borg episodes are particularly fun.

It's interesting Microsoft who used to try to subvert open standards invested in OpenAI.

A bunch of grifters who tried to leverage open source to promote themselves before coming up with a perfunctory excuse to pivot to a model where they can make lots of money via APIs.

I'm not a fan of trigger warnings, or I suppose they're called content warnings now.

They're likely to chill expression, and some studies show someone might feel *more* distress, if they view content after having seen a CW.

Even if someone doesn't feel more distress, it doesn't appear to reduce distress.

The more I see, the more the culture war feels like a grift so that a bunch of Republicans can engage in acts of performative outrage.

It's convenient Elon goes on about AI becoming "sentient" and wants his competitors to wait just enough time for him to train his own AI after signalling his intention to do so.
