Is Google Classroom really worth the effort?

- The "Stream" is useless, because students don't see things posted there unless they explicitly set up email notifications. I already have a regular class email list for communication.
- The classwork calendar could be a simple Google calendar shared with the students. That would actually be *easier* to work with for tasks like changing a due date -- just drag rather than dig through menus.
- I imagine a Google Drive or even GitHub would be easier for handin, because it would allow me to download submissions in bulk (or even run scripts on them). I don't need the "you can't edit your turned-in file until it's been returned" feature.
- Since I'm ungrading, I don't need the gradebook. I especially don't need its lousy "assignments will be listed in the order they were created and you can't change this" policy.
- I already have an official roster.

I feel like I'm doing a bunch of work to shoehorn things into this LMS and I'm not getting much out of it.
