The true measure of a person's worth is the inverse of that of his detractors. Therefore strive at all times to make utter tossrags disparage you.

@ottocrat While the Twitter that a Musk hasn't bought is clearly better than the Twiter a Musk has, I'm going to keep on with the one a Musk can't a while longer.

@w7voa Not so easy I expect for reporters to forget: any time they did and emailed Twitter's press office, they were reminded with a poop emoji autoreply.

@bruces So add the fact that Apple has a very mature recycling program to the comprehensive list of ways their watch already beats this thing.

@JaneinNJ @bertwells @JamesGleick

The idea that one candidate is clearly better than the other is anathema to the mainstream media. It's just not a narrative they will countenance; they seek false balance, even counterbalance, at every turn.

While the right wing media has no such problem. That one candidate is the only acceptable one is their baseline position.

This does rather create an imbalance in reporting, and I don't know how to fix it.

"If you ban your citizens from using the same social media services that you use to spread disinformation abroad.... you might be a dictatorship."

The relationship between Valinor and Middle Earth is the same as the relationship between Barbieland and the real world

@RickiTarr

"goes against all leftist values" has the stink of Republican authorship. 99.44 times out of 100 when I hear "leftist", it's a right-winger talking.

And of course there's the unsubtle "it's weird" turnabout.

Let's see: NATO expansion: check. Wagner Group mutiny: check. Russia invaded for the first time since WWII: check.

Putin. What a visionary.

@davidallengreen The first supposes ignorance, the second bad faith. The first might be relatively innocent, if rude, the second, um, the other thing.

The nice thing about capturing Russian tanks *in Russia* is that sometimes you don't have to turn them into planters first. 🇺🇦

@i_gvf @w7voa

Elon Musk is all about freedom ... freedom to do things that suit his needs. Do anything else and suddenly he's a big fan of government regulation.

Libertarianism means "freedom for me, not for thee."

Has anyone asked the Marine Corps press office its take on publicly disputing the honorable service of a veteran of another branch, in the same breath as extolling one's own?

The Corps famously has a code of honor. It really ought to state its position on this.

@BashStKid My brain hurts. The opposite of Impostor Syndrome would be to wrongly believe you're NOT an inadequate loser who faked your way into a position you're incompetent to do.

So "The [name of literally any recent Tory cabinet member] Syndrome"?

Y'know, if you don't pretend to be knowledgable on matters of which you're not, and don't have time for people who do, that doesn't leave much reason to be on most forms of social media.
