Republican expresses outrage that the White House doesn’t keep visitor logs for Biden’s home. Does the New York Times:
Check and discover that the White House has never kept visitor logs for the private home of any President or Vice President, so this pretend outrage doesn’t pass the laugh test? Or,
Carry the GOP’s water and amplify the fake outrage, declaring that it “highlights the political danger for the President.”
Niche post for those interested in the impact of politics on religion ( usually the analysis is the other way around):
The ostentatiously Catholic ruling party in Poland is driving down church attendance at an accelerating rate. Only 28% of Poles still attend mass, down from 40% when PiS was first elected in 2015.
Politicization of the church turns out to be bad for the church
On the question of AI and the future of humanity, I think Porno for Pyros pretty much called it.
Sitting at a traffic light an hour ago, I saw a transfer-style sticker in the rear window of the SUV in front of me, that read
WHY ARE YOU WEARING A MASK IN YOUR CAR??
Two things came to mind:
1) Why are you so concerned about what other people do to protect themselves and others that you not only obsess over it but actually went to the trouble to obtain and apply this message to the back window of your car?
2. I often don't bother to pull my mask off right away when I get into the car. Sometimes I don't get around to taking it off at all between stops. Because unlike you, I don't like to imagine that my mask is hurting me, and I genuinely forget about it sometimes.
Arguably the best single episode of the uber-classic "The Prisoner" television series was "A. B. and C." from 1967. In this episode, Number Two and a brilliant, rather sympathetic researcher manipulate Number Six's dreams while viewing them, in an attempt to determine (of course) why he resigned -- with predictably embarrassing results.
"The Prisoner" is currently free on #YouTube Movies & TV. You can watch this episode right now, right here! Be seeing you. - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=keGKsFqQUxc
When I'm in SF one of my favorite places to be is at one of those little tables in front of Orphan Andy's where the Market St streetcar turnaround happens. There's a live cam that points at it, it's very rainy there right now and it's creating a great ambience for my little PNW home office. Think I need to invest in a wall-sized TV for this sort of thing.

"The solution is simple – building networks of safe, segregated cycle routes in towns and cities across the #UK would turn #cycling into a genuine option for millions of people, helping them break out of car dependence and the huge costs associated with that.”
