@marti I would say Obamacare is better than lowering taxes for the rich. Gay marriage is better than invading Iraq. They don't do the same things. There is a difference.
@marti Feel free to block me if you like. Stopping aid discourages Israel and I also think it should have been done a long time ago. Presumably it's the election that's preventing it. And I don't think Democrats are great, I just think Republicans are far worse.
@marti @rebeccawatson I think what you mean is: you can't fix all the things, even the important things, with a single vote. And that's definitely true. You can't really stop Israel from doing genocide if they're _really_ into it, unless you're willing to invade it. You can't just fire all cops and start from scratch. But you can gradually improve things with a lot of effort.
@greegreehoist Yes, there is. But anything beyond that would be my opinion.
@zaufanatrzeciastrona No nie wiem, tam wydaje się nie poszło nic ważnego w tych dokumentach, więc wydaje się nieco podejrzane.
As NZ households face a cost of electricity crisis, an Aussie mining company is set to jump on the Fast Track Approvals process to greenlight a Seabed Mining project, which would PREVENT an Offshore Wind generation industry from being established in Taranaki.

Chess hasn’t been updated in almost 200 years and it’s obvious the devs have abandoned it. The greedy creators took your money and laughed all the way to the bank.
I remember back in 705 AD when chess was fun. Then they started adding stupid features no one wanted like “castling” and “en passant” instead of listening to player feedback and fixing game-breaking bugs. I’ve been complaining for years about the collision-detection glitch with the horsey. The ‘clipping-through-pieces’ bug has been abused to death and the lazy devs refuse to fix it.
Don’t support this awful behaviour and boycott this company.
@aliss And of course now they're adding AI to it, like losing to strangers wasn't annoying enough.
@sjvn Surprisingly, they're the same species.
@brettk Rogers Canada reported profit of almost $5 billion and 26 thousand employees in 2023. They could give each of their employees $100k/year raise and still get $2.5 billion profit. They're afraid of people internalizing facts like that one.
Oh hey look, a big Canadian corporation working to undermine #WorkFromHome via a cute little ad campaign for their broadband service.
Make no mistake, this is anti-worker propaganda, plain and simple.
@Richard_Littler 0.4% stretches the "non-alcoholic" claim a bit.
Reading all these articles about the high traffic from AI bots, here is my experience from a small German hoster: It's a huge problem, and it is getting worse very fast. There are bots like claudebot from Antrophic which are so aggressive that they block whole systems, outranking actual attacks for example against WordPress. And they change their AWS cloud IPs so often that blocking doesn't help for long and they also ignore robots.txt. Our on-call is regularly alerted for such issues.
@genehack Piezo speaker? I appreciate the throwback, but how do you use that?
@Richard_Littler And he was famous at the time.
@Richard_Littler The Smiths had Elvis Presley on their cover, but I don't know if that counts - Elvis is a pop culture icon as much as he was a musician.
