@gwynnion Things change, but they change very slowly. Visibility and representation, you at least have some of that. But there's still people who hate Jews, and black people, and Muslims, and gay people. It takes ages.

When I was 20 I thought weed will be legal in Poland in the next ten years. I'm 45 and nothing has changed in Poland, but there are glimmers of hope in the US. It's a kind of progress, I guess.

You'll get there, and, for better or worse, we're likely going to see the major change happening before our eyes. When I was 20 virtually nobody knew what trans was. Now, while there's plenty of misinformation, the majority of people have at least some basic understanding, and there are glimmers of representation, in Congress even.

But yeah, people aren't great, I try to avoid them. I sympathize with your frustration.

If you think a pregnant person who wants to have an abortion wants to kill a baby, what makes you think it's a good idea to forcefully thrust onto that infanticidal person access to and control over a baby? It seems really weird to be thinking that.

@ghorwood I've done very little Java myself, but the threading model was easy to use, in Java way :)

@ghorwood Golang has a very easy to use multi-threading model, I've found. It's a pleasant language to work in after PHP and JS.

Can we meet in the middle with Earth being a cylinder?

@ghorwood When I was learning nodejs I was told it's multi threaded, and that was a lie too.

for client two, i have this large red banner on staging that says "this is staging: do not insert production data". and every time someone inserts production data, i increase it a few pixels. it's at about 20% of the screen now.

Answering your coworker's question from the bathroom is much more awkward if you don't use chat or email.

If Earth is flat can we get rid of timezones please?

@chasewnelson All those threads are just wonderful science educating, thank you.

Many wonder whether there’s a benefit to receiving the #HPV #vaccine past a certain age, like 45. Guidelines differ and have changed over time.

The “basic science” remains the same: vaccination will prevent new infections, no matter how old you are. But there have been reasons for an age limit that are important to understand. 1/8

Why does the #HPV #vaccine sometimes fail?

This question deserves a nuanced answer. It also requires an understanding of probabilities — that if a rare event is given enough chances to occur, it will eventually happen to someone.

Allow me to explain. 1/7

@hyc @thecommongreen No, they should not. Banning drugs is generally a bad idea.

@derickr Does that include training or just in the field?

@CartyBoston Sounds like something a cult leader would do, yes.

@RIDDLES Not the original meaning, but also nice.

@shannonpersists Give it to Polish people first. They'll show you all the ways in which you can abuse this mechanism.
Disclaimer: I'm Polish, it's not racist if I say it.

@Niall That's what low taxes for corporations look like. Corporations are rich and can afford it, the government is poor and cannot.

Absolutely wild how many companies are adopting AI notetaking apps for meetings.

Y'all'er just chill sending your planning, product direction and revenue details to some random third party in exchange for them doing the low value task of halfassing note taking for you?
