Why don't more college and university professors use Openstax for textbooks? In that site they're completely free. Subjects include Physics, Chemistry, Calculus, Statistics, etc.

@proto_azure @Sphinx There is a big interest in producing and selling those books, a whole industry. And an interest in self-preservation. Some college professors are also textbook authors, and so sensitive to weaning people off the current situation.

Prices are high, and it would be ideal to find lower costs methods, for sure.

@design_RG @Sphinx sounds right. I've had at least two professors who wrote their own textbooks, then made us buy them! 😬
