@PINE64
Alright. Enough already with the cool "I must have one no matter if I need it or not" new products. Stop it. Stop. It!

... Pretty please?

@PINE64 the PineNote… thank you for ensuring I don’t spend money on a Remarkable or an iPad mini, brilliant!

> I’m sure some of you lunatics will also use it for terminal work and other such applications – godspeed and have fun with it, you’ve got our blessing.

Haha yeah absolutely, an e-ink screen seems great for terminal work and reducing eye-strain because you do not get either too much light in your face or not enough.

To anyone interested in the #Pinephone, or even the #Librem5 and #Linux #smartphones in general, we owe a huge debt of gratitude imo to #Megi.

He's not employed to do this, but donates hundreds of his own personal hours helping to get the hardware working, increase battery life (over and over) and generally make a huge amount of the smartphone progress we've seen, happen.

I'm personally extremely grateful and encourage everyone to donate at the bottom of his page here:

'Free Software is about empowerment.

When I was a student with little money, Linux enabled me to do interesting things with my cheap and old computer where the pre-installed software failed.

Since then, my whole education & many achievements would have been impossible had I not been able to experiment, learn, disassemble, reassemble, modify, tweak, and use #software the way I wanted.

This kind of #empowerment needs a strong lobby: the FSFE'

@ramob @Blort @lupyuen
You are reading it right. LoRa and LoRaWAN are designed for very small amounts of data, e.g. a thermometer sending a reading every 30 mins. I think there's a bit of overselling and hype going on.

#Briar might support LoRa, however the overall available bandwidth is so low that IM might be really impractical.

@frumble @bshah @plasmamobile Hi, I'm the guy who's working on this branch.

You've just named two of my pet peeves why I started working on this in the first place: (1) a missing, powerful podcast app that works everywhere (desktop, phone) and (2) syncing between all these form factors.

There's still an awful long way to go, but if I can keep finding the time and motivation to work on this, I definitely want to get there.
