Wonderful Czech group that I met last year at the festival in Slovenia.
Amazing music and great people
I hope to meet them this year as well at the festival.

There's no reason for this: most apps and browsers allow to automatically redirect to one of those websites.

For example I'm using fedilab and it shows a link to invidious.
Linking the YouTube one ensures better future proof, moreover that's the original source

@rastinza

Sounds like you mean it's more a standard than not, so most people are going to be redirected...?
Ok, probably missing something here myself. Do say more if it is standard to be redirected...

My question is, if it's not as standard isn't that cause enough to try push better links anyway?

Most apps being which ones?
Which browser comes with auo-redirect?... (without being a hacker and needing add stuff)

Actually needs people to know about them in the first place... which url is self-education for.

So if it's not standard I think anyway responsibility is with you also.

For future-proofing I can see that a bit more if it was that important or very un-disposable data (like important and not everywhere).
At worse the video ID is still there so you're not losing your precious link-
and yes if invidious dies, some broken links if really it's that bad, but I don't rate very high on my ladder of priority something usually lost / forgotten in a week or so abundant to find again
(search title / using video id)

My highest priority (or one of the highest) is to not push youtube links (work around or not)
And to not need to catch people out in the case they don't have this down. You know people not like you and me talking about it... using various devices... how many users does fedilab have... you're linking to twitter... all kind of 'dumbed down' average people floods my mind and you're talking about Fedilab... just too obscure or niche / low population for even the many here..

1st for me is to make as safe and idiot-proof as possible AND SHOWING SUPPORT for invidious etc.
And I think you are not doing that, knowingly.
And could adjust priority a bit for your minor points, but visually in your links and technically you have *those* URLs near your name and message and not *these* other alternatives that people will keep seeing and ask themselves why? .... and finally catch on (this is a human thing not just Technical Redirects)

Your support for invidious is not shown here in your list of messages / posts... it's quite a clear choice at least on the visual front and learning cycle that I'm battling you on now.

@freeschool
I have no intention of actively supporting invidious.
If someone knows about it, he can use it.

@rastinza
At least it's clearer now where you stand and regardless who we support.

Thanks. Hope we find something else to end in similar conclusive clarity.

@rastinza
My question is, if it's not as standard isn't that cause enough to try push better links anyway?

Most apps being which ones?
Which browser comes with auto-redirect?...

@freeschool
I'm not here to push anything.
If you know invidious you can set your browser to redirect you to whatever domain you wish.
Regarding apps, surely fedilab does it and you can most probably also set the others to do it

@rastinza
Ok so I'm hearing you don't want to 'push' anything ( just by talking about it ) but I don't think it's advertising too much to say if you know what you're talking about.

Just backing it up is what I was looking for more than ' most probably '

I'm not sure most mainstream or other apps encourage redirect this without hacking it (meaning do things it wasn't designed for or needing to opening up things more than average person could)
Redirecting YouTube sites as standard in a browser as a default or making it too easy would be LOLs and totally defeating the point of shipping defaults and homepages with those sponsored things on it for YouTube etc.

So anyway I guess you partially answered and you're assuming the rest as ' most probably '.

Happy fedilab does it. Still think using the invidious link itself is better advertising for itself and people will add thumbnails (which it does do here on Mastodon and which I hope I helped by asking for it and others will follow in that way if demanded / people believe in these measurable wins).
