You see a social media account that, contrary to the norm, requires your "follow" to be approved. Do you take this to mean that the person doesn't want not-actual-friends to follow?

@levisan i think a lot of time it's just privacy orientation — someone who wants to feel free to post what they like on the account without mystery strangers following along. (esp if they or someone close to them has been burned by creeps/stalkers before)

@sabbatical Interesting, so you see it as a "I don't want people snooping" more than a "don't follow me" signal?

@levisan yeah, though in reality it could go either way. i take it as a sign i shouldnt be offended if they dont accept my follow, but not that i should avoid even requesting it
