Should add that up-speed increased to 10 Mbps. Uploading to my server I'm getting 11 to 12 sustained.

I like it when businesses don't lie. :-)

Upgraded my Internet here to 80 Mbps. Building a Linux system here and getting 59 to 65 megs sustained. I like it. whoo hoo!

@stevestreza Yes, great idea. My Plantronics Voyager headset needed a new battery after 8 years of service. Replacement is impossible. So I did it anyway. Took about an hour and a half but I enjoy patiently figuring out how to get it apart without breaking it. New LiPO battery cost me $12. Works like new.

(I also have a complete set of tools for doing this kind of thing -- miniature crowbars, etc. But it can be done.)

Much better would be replaceable batteries and products that don't deliberately induce failures when you do replace the battery. (I'm talking about you, Samsung.)

@Npars01 @StillIRise1963 Indeed true. My youngest daughter has been requesting reading lists from me. I just remembered a book I read in my teens that pertains to this thread: The Arms of Krupp by William Manchester. The book is also quite an eye-opener with regard to the past 400 years of wars in Europe.

@smallcircles I should add that I see no solution to this problem for search engines other than to provide a checkbox or mode: 1) Facts/Academic Mode 2) Popular Crap Mode.

@smallcircles Yup. Same thing happened to me a few days ago. Can't remember what I searched on but was shocked at what came up. Not one reference to the actual thing. It was all references to some popular something-or-other I'd never heard of.

@FinalOverdrive @vonxylofon @igneus @RickiTarr @theropologist Yes, well, I try not to think about cures. All cures that I can imagine lead directly to violence. I'm hoping someone smarter and cleverer than I can come up with a non-violent cure.
