@futurebird "Don't be evil" motto was deleted on the day they went public.
@starlily All true, as I'm fond of pointing out. He also had help from Clinton, who should have known better.
@randahl That was probably a rhetorical question, but um, yes.
Should add that up-speed increased to 10 Mbps. Uploading to my server I'm getting 11 to 12 sustained.
I like it when businesses don't lie. :-)
@stevestreza Yes, great idea. My Plantronics Voyager headset needed a new battery after 8 years of service. Replacement is impossible. So I did it anyway. Took about an hour and a half but I enjoy patiently figuring out how to get it apart without breaking it. New LiPO battery cost me $12. Works like new.
(I also have a complete set of tools for doing this kind of thing -- miniature crowbars, etc. But it can be done.)
Much better would be replaceable batteries and products that don't deliberately induce failures when you do replace the battery. (I'm talking about you, Samsung.)
Me: Explains cancer treatment using #science
Patient (male): <looks at me in shock> “And you know all this?”
Me: “Sir, I have to know all of this; that’s how I became a board-certified medical oncologist”
Patient: <still clearly in shock>
(I think this is a culmination of the ease of internet “research,” where many truly cannot fathom the depths of learning over decades it takes to become an expert (compared to 5 min googling); anti-science; & worsening #misogyny everywhere)

You must give two things to your children
1. Roots - so they have a foundation to rely upon
2. Wings - so they can fly
Book recommendations help children do both.
How dare you publish this fucking garbage?
How dare you call student loan cancellation a "campaign promise" that Biden "failed to deliver"? That's a goddamned lie.
Biden has canceled nearly $144 Billion in student loan debt. He wants to cancel much more, but the Republicans have blocked him.
Say that. Do your goddamned job.

@Npars01 @StillIRise1963 Indeed true. My youngest daughter has been requesting reading lists from me. I just remembered a book I read in my teens that pertains to this thread: The Arms of Krupp by William Manchester. The book is also quite an eye-opener with regard to the past 400 years of wars in Europe.
Thanks for the reminder. ;-)
We also know how the wealthy enabled Hitler & how their pet media companies enabled Hitler too.

The wealthy are buying an end to American democracy.
@Blahster @FrenchPanda @RickiTarr @DejahEntendu @theropologist Just commenting that I haven't abandoned this thread. I follow it every day. I just don't have anything cogent to add to what's already being said.
@smallcircles I should add that I see no solution to this problem for search engines other than to provide a checkbox or mode: 1) Facts/Academic Mode 2) Popular Crap Mode.
@FinalOverdrive @vonxylofon @igneus @RickiTarr @theropologist Agreed, but it's hard for me to say it out loud.
I mean, "Jews killed Jesus"??? Fuck you. Fuck the "Free Palestine" movement. How is this shit any different from the so-called alt-right? How is it any different from the Nazis who marched in Charlottesville??? Those pigs said the same shit, and they all love Bashar al-Assad just like these fucking commies, too!
By any means necessary, exterminate this shit.
@smallcircles Yup. Same thing happened to me a few days ago. Can't remember what I searched on but was shocked at what came up. Not one reference to the actual thing. It was all references to some popular something-or-other I'd never heard of.
Think of the way angry white reactionaries who storm school board meetings are described as “concerned parents” – but Black parents are special interest groups and progressive educators are “activists.” 7/
This is absolutely priceless.
MAGA Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders of Arkansas has delayed her reply once more in the infamous #LecternGate case, where she allegedly tried to get Arkansas to pay USD 19,000 to her MAGA friend for a fake speaker’s lectern which was worth less than 1,000 dollars.
Ben Meiselas has the story:
@DemocracyMattersALot
They are being paid to push Russian propaganda, so they are traitors and should be expelled and arrested. This is an attack on the US.
@FinalOverdrive @vonxylofon @igneus @RickiTarr @theropologist Yes, well, I try not to think about cures. All cures that I can imagine lead directly to violence. I'm hoping someone smarter and cleverer than I can come up with a non-violent cure.
