Seeing #satellites in the sky is commonplace: sit outside for a few minutes after dark, and you can’t miss them.

These bright, shiny satellites are putting at risk our connection to the #cosmos, which has been important to humans for countless millennia and has already been greatly diminished by the growth of cities and artificial lighting.

They are also posing a problem for astronomers – and hence for our understanding of the #universe.

Fire fighting times have changed in FN Queensland. When we first moved into our bush block, 1985, we had no-one but us & neighbours to fight our fires or burn off, we were outside the town brigade's area & not in a rural brigade's. Now there is a fire & we have a water bomber EMQ helicopter dropping buckets of water on a neighbour's place.

No great apparent risk to us from the fire, but apparently they have 19 vehicles & 2 more coming.

So much more professional than 40 years ago. More power to their arms.
