@11112011 they're not quite as manufactured as democrats the last few decades, come back in ten years
@Fletchlives come for the banter, stay for the memes is a tough cycle to beat for fedi though
@Fletchlives I've been thinking recently about having a few topics/subjects dear to my heart to do actual research on and ignore the rest.
I'll always remember my mum coming into my room at half 5 in the morning to tell me about the Paris terror attacks - necessary info will always filter through, you're better off having direction over your attention than allowing others to drag you by the nose... even the well meaning ones
@coolboymew this is, unironically, kinda interesting - particularly if it was used to reflect/analyse the demographics of a culture
I remember reading an article about how some social scientists had analysed the relationships in the Norse Sagas and shown that the structure was what you would expect to see from a genuine community of people. they concluded that it suggested the sagas were more than a little based on real people
pretty cool
@NBS @harblinger I sympathize with the idea of "of it ain't broke don't fix it"
sure, there's always a finite risk of your exchange going down or screwing you - but if you're new, self custody might be the biggest risk
@harblinger @NBS I've heard good reports about coldcards
@jmw150 structuralism sounds kinda based
