@thendrix my impression is that Americans worth their salt are more braced for the mad Max interim than even the most competent European

@thendrix as an outside observer, it seems likely that the real violence will be in large cities, particularly coastal

the people who are frothing about this seem to be a fairly small minority and most people just want to get on with their lives. maybe the homicidal maniacs grind themselves to paste while those who've had enough wait on the sidelines to rebuild what's left

perhaps I'm an optimist but I think the US has plenty left in the tank, just need to end the Fed and cut the federal government down a peg or 5

the irony is that you guys are so heavily armed no one would be insane enough to invade and the only thing a standing army is needed for is imperial projection.

@thendrix I really enjoy his articles, they're always a lot of fun to read

All right, cleaned it up and produced a merge request: https://git.pleroma.social/pleroma/pleroma/-/merge_requests/3664

On FSE, the average backend time for affected endpoints (fetching notifications and home timeline) was 112ms; it is now 64ms, so it is nearly twice as fast. (42.9% reduction in time taken.) Further, as these are two of the most frequently hit endpoints, it's resulted in a significant reduction for the average backend response time across *all* endpoints, reducing the average by 31.7%, from 72ms to 49ms. It appears to be a significant performance bump. I included in the MR the other index I've been using and tossing at people when they complained that their dumps were loading slowly.

CC'ing parties that have expressed interest: @Moon / @NEETzsche .

The stories we tell ourselves about our lives often become self-fulfilling prophesies. We make up stories about what we are able to do or able to bear and we seek this out. It's a little game we play with ourselves.
