I know nobody who dies on flight MU5735. I know nobody who is currently suffering in Ukraine and Shanghai. But seeing those videos, photos, and reports, I feel dispirited. That's not the world I imagined when I was young. I want to go out and help people, but I don't have the power, and also don't have the money.
Also, you may know the "The Great Translation Movement". Although I'm Chinese, living in mainland China, it's unexpected for me to see those speeches. My weibo account has been banned in 2014, and I rarely view Chinese public social media. I used to have trust issues with my government, now the trust issues extend to the whole society, to all Chinese I don't know. I don't know who will report my speech and try to screw my life up ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I guess we need to take care of ourselves before we can take care of others. May conscience and braveness lead me.

Thanks! For myself, I'm not using public social media and my friends are pretty good. We offen talk about politics together (face to face, so no digital footprint) and I think they probably won't report me (I guess).
But the society itself is pretty dangerous in my opinion. Some people support Russia and didn't care about the damage in Ukraine. Even the official media is helping Russia and sometimes they make fake news. And some people will screw up others without any hesitation if that will benefit themselves. Although there are some good people, but I would say only small percentage still have conscience, and most of them doesn't have the braveness to fight again those bad things.
And now Shanghai has been locked down due to the pandemic. But the chaotic management is causing more death than the virus itself. Everytime I saw this kind of news reports, it feels so bad.
Anyway, I will try to get a job, stable my own life, then start to help others. I don't want to be the slient majorities, and I don't want to give up my conscience.
