Found a very OP mod. Called botany pots. It basically introduced a new type of pot where you only need to put 1 seed and 1 block of soil, then it will automatically grow, harvest, and replant, output the product into a chest. No power needed.

And with botany trees, you can plant tree inside that pot, and you will get the log block and tree saplings.

I switch the newly bought VPS's internet from fixed bandwidth to bill based on usage. And somehow they refund me 700+CNY where the server itself only cost 99CNY a year.

Then I use this 700+CNY to upgrade the server from 2GB RAM to 4GB RAM.

Now we're talking.

OpenAI is currently sued by
1 Authors Guild et (copyrighted text/images)
2 NYT (OpenAI caught red-handed using NYT articles)
3 Elon Musk
4 Doe 3 (unknown folks suing OpenAI and Microsoft/GitHub Copilot and their names kept hidden because of death threats given by OpenAI or MS employees to these lawsuits)
5 Sarah Silverman suing OpenAI for stealing her books or jokes
6 Many other lawsuits are filed against OpenAI

How long will it take for Microsoft's CEO or shareholders to stop funding OpenAI?

@trinsec I generally like fabric. Most of time I'm fine with fabric and I generally play some vanilla+ mod pack. But for most heavy and content rich mod pack, they tend to use forge.

@trinsec Some mods are forge exclusive. Mostly because forge offers a better way to render complex models (like the machine from create mod). While fabric is lighter, the developer has to do the heavy lifting. I'll see if I can find any fabric alternatives :ablobcool:

Wondering if I should write a mod just keep calling System.gc() in a loop.

Yeah yeah yeah, I know what gc does and what jvm does when the memory is not enough for allocation. But with pure luck and some good timing, it can save some crashes, right?

So... The Minecraft server with 19 mods running on a 1400MB Heap and 128MB PermGen is not sufficient. I got a lot of out of memory error :(

@trinsec us server is fine, but the latency is not stable. During the night hours, the latency can be as high as 300ms, and sometimes there will be packets lost. But most cheap servers I know/have access to are from Europe.

Everytime I try to force JVM run on a constrained environment, I learn a lot.

@trinsec That's the special offer from a Chinese cloud computing company. Something like hetzner can get much cheaper and larger ram, but the latency is the major consideration. Server in German are normally 200+ms, while the local one can get as little as 9ms.

I'm customizing my own mod pack. Tried minecolonies, 2GB RAM is not enough. So I add create mod and some other farming mod instead, with maybe 5 or 7 optimization mod. And it's still struggling...

Can't figure out why servers in China are so expensive.

Not the best config to run minecraft server.

Apparently 2 vCore and 2GB RAM makes java really struggle. I set the heap size to 1500MB so it won't push the everything to swap. I also use nice -20 to make the system do whatever it's best to focus on the minecraft server. And the JVM itself is from Zulu Zing, which is not the fastest one at the beginning, but when JIT kicks in, it will be the best (assuming the optimization thread won't take all the resources)
