That's why I really, really wish someone would write a popular/accessible/appealing book about how various professions and industries came to be regulated. I know there are several about particular fields, but I don't know anything like Young's "Abolishing Fossil Fuels: Lessons From Movements That Won" https://pmpress.org/index.php?l=product_detail&p=1578 that compares and contrasts several cases and draws lessons from them for today's struggle. I don't know enough to write it; I hope someone here does. 4/4
@timkellogg.me I would include a denominator to make it a survival rate, and below a certain amount of total layoffs it seems random (for example my score is between 0/0 and 1/1 - cancelled project == layoff? ).
Made some notes on how Cursor works under the hood based on their security documentation - it turns out an organization's list of subprocessors offers a loose form of "view source" for their infrastructure!

It's a list of volcanoes
@b0rk I haven't had it in a while. I think it went away when I upgraded to windows 11 or when I started to use the new Windows terminal app. Before that windows PowerShell used a dark blue background with white text and was generally flaky with rendering selected text (white on yellow I think )
@timkellogg.me the env var is still SSL_CERT_FILE ...
@lisyarus interesting! On Android 13, no luck with Firefox ; in Chrome, the particles don't move, which I assume is not the intended behavior.
In my day job, I work for a media company that focuses on the toy industry.
Apropos of nothing, I decided to add the Mastodon plushie (aka #Plushtodon) to the latest products on our Toy Insider website.
Please boost this so our editors will frustratingly tell me to stop trying to make Mastodon happen.

We had an awesome chat( https://embedded.fm/episodes/500 ) with Komathi Sundaram about her passion for testing and automation!
We dove into the unique joys of testing vs. development, setting up CI servers, and all kinds of tests.
Here's an excerpt from the show:

I've written an unhealthy amount of words on "the cloud" and specifically Europe's woes. In the post below I tie many articles together into a hopefully useful overview. It may be good to know that nothing I write on the cloud is novel or original, I mostly hope to report things as they are. Which is scary enough already! https://berthub.eu/articles/posts/cloud-overview/

@timkellogg.me my first thought was that there is a catch, otherwise this would have spread more. But it's possible that for most of humanity's existence, there simply wasn't much of an advantage in needing less sleep (no artificial light)
