There are four types of i.e., prescriptive, descriptive, predictive, and practice. We can argue that there might be a hybrid theory as well. One that emphasizes that it might not be as straightforward as it seems to assign a theory to an ideal type.


@sgul IDK, I think you could take any category and split it into four subcategories with a little rhyming and alliteration. What type of theory is that?

@sraznoff @sgul I think "I think" + "could" renders your theory predictive. But with no evidence maybe a 5th category presumptive. But your posts made me smile, so perhaps for a while, we could simply presume they're consumptive. :-) happy Thursday my fellow mastadonians!
