Years ago I demoted PHP in my reckoning because I was learning the way. But it's past time I gave PHP a fair shake since a big chunk of my work depends on WordPress. What are some recommendations for learning resources or books about ?

It’s gonna be May 💫 Another month of skywatching is on the horizon – and we’re in for planet spotting, a conjunction between Jupiter and Mars, and a total eclipse of the Moon! All month long, the Coma star cluster is a great evening target for binoculars. go.nasa.gov/3zLnOgh pic.twitter.com/80P3b6SMbm twitter.com/NASAJPL/status/152

PSA: The "verified" symbol you see on Twitter etc means absolutely nothing on Mastodon or the Fediverse. On here, symbols like :verified: are just custom emoji that anyone can use and put after their name. Don't be fooled! 😁

There are ways to verify your identity on here, but the :verified: symbol is not one of them.

The easiest way to verify your identity is if you have a website that people already know is yours. You can paste a special code into your website which will verify your address and it will turn green on your Mastodon profile (see here for instructions: mstdn.social/@feditips/1062741).

Alternatively, you can set up a server as a subdomain of your known website address. For example, the European union set up their own Mastodon server at social.network.europa.eu, and we know it really is the EU because the server address is part of the EU's well-known europa.eu domain.

These scientists want to tell aliens where Earth is — not everyone is happy - thenextweb.com/news/astronomer

In the coming months, two teams of astronomers are going to send messages into space in an attempt to communicate with any intelligent aliens who may be out there listening.

These efforts are like building a big bonfire in the woods and hoping someone finds you. But some people question whether it is wise to do this at all.
